I was just wondering what the steps were for the AOS approval. Meaning what happens step by step from the time you receive the Welcome to America email? This is what I believe it might be because of the few different things i've read, but if someone could tell me for sure, it would be greatly appreciated.

1. Welcome to America email & letter

2. I-485 Approval email

3. "A greencard has been ordered" email

4. Greencard in the mail

And about how long does it take to receive the greencard from the time that the 'welcome' email is received? Sorry about all of the questions, but now that we are approved we are so anxious to get the darn card....lol. Thank you for your help!!!!

1 and 4 came together, do not remember receiving 2 or 3.

My green card arrived the day after my welcome letter, which arrived 6 days after my "your case has been approved" email which came the day after "your card has been ordered" email. Yep - the first two emails were received backwards:-). The first email was received 2 days after the actual AOS date of approval.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Today we received this email from USCIS:

Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On August 17, 2006, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

So far what I assumed about the AOS approval process seems to be right, but we'll see........
