So I guess I'll start this month off. Me and my hubby sent our AOS forms off last night to the Chicago lockbox and they should get it today or tomorrow. So we'll be one of the first September filers this year. Hopefully, it gets processed quickly and no RFE's.

Hi there!

We've pretty much got our AOS packet ready to go, all we are lacking are the passport-size photos. We'll be mailing our package off early next week.

With the timelines trimmed down to 4 months, we are hoping there will be no RFEs, either. lol

Will let you know when we've sent ours out.

My biggest thing is the EAD. We need my hubby working for our bills and his sanity. He's worked pretty much since he was 16 so not having a job is starting to get to him.

I know how he feels.

We moved here in October 2009, and I was already out of work for 21 days (left my old job Sept 30th). When we got here, we had to save up some money so I could file the EAD first (we couldn't afford to adjust status yet, I'm on K3 and my daughter is on K4). That was $340 bucks but it was worth it. Filed EAD in Dec 2009, got the card in Feb 2010 and applied for a SSN right away. My first job was at Lowe's, they hired me in Mar 2010.

What kind of work does your hubby do? There are a lot of work-at-home opportunities out there, if he is interested.

For I-864 we used my wife's salary (which is not over the threshold - she's part-time & freelance worker) and my savings and pension values; hopefully we don't get an RFE on that (I wouldn't be surprised if we do though).

The EAD is very important for me. I've been offered contract work for a major international sports event (I'm a software developer) in early November, with the possibility of many future contracts. I'm going to try to get it expedited if I can.

The AP is also important to get before Christmas as we intend to fly to Ireland then.

I arrived and got married last month but I only started to do my AOS,EAD package last week ! ( Everybody who went through the K1 process probably understand why I didn't want to go back in the process right away !)

Ok so I have 3 questions for you guys !!! I want you to know that I did look first on internet but I am not quite sure about what I found !

I don't know exactly when I will be travelling. Is that okay to apply for it anyway ?

My name is Sophie X and I plan to return to Paris in France to spend Christmas with my family. This trip should last 3 weeks, departing in the middle of December 2011. I would depart from San Diego. (as well as for the return). My husband and I also intend to travel in Japan within a year for our Honey moon. However: We haven’t made plan yet.

The address you send to really depends on whether you're going to ship it through the USPS or through a postal service like FedEx or UPS.

The check should be addressed to Department of Homeland Security.

As for the requirements for I-131 I included a copy of the K1 visa and his I-94 as well as two passport photos.....and I believe our marriage license.

Hey BoyWonder, I would start looking for a possible co-sponsor just to be on the safe side. Usually, you have to have twice as much as what is remaining in your wife's salary. As in if 125% of the poverty level is $25,000 and she is only making $20,000 then you have to have at least $10,000 in savings for your earnings to qualify. At least I believe it's only twice as much. It might be three times which would require you to have $15,000 in savings.

I have enough savings and assets to easily cover the difference to the 125% poverty level multiple times, so hopefully it will be fine. We used a joint-sponsor for the K-1, and he's willing to do so again should we get an RFE, but he and I preferred us to use my assets since we could this time.

I also sent in just the DS-3025 (required vaccinations completed) - I had contacted a few Civil Surgeons in Denver about transcribing vaccinations for the I-693 and all quoted over $100. I included the I-693 instructions with my application and highlighted the section that shows you don't need to do the I-693 if your DS-3025 is complete. Again, I won't be surprised to get an RFE but I'm hoping the USCIS actually follow their own instructions.

I just went to the doctor without an appointment, the lady at the desk asked for $50 in Cash which made me wonder if she just made that up ! But I know people that have to pay way more than me so I didn't complain. She gave me a sealed enveloppe. I guess I don't really understand what I am suppose to do with my Xray and my blood test results ? Did you guys keep it ?

Hi Guys.... I am starting over. I have sent AOS packet to Chicago in August for my stepson that came in on K2 9 month after my wife. It came back Rejected. and split in to two packets. I-131 they wanted separate check for 300.00 and the I485 930.00 and separate 80.00 for fingerprinting.

I just did AOS for my wife in March without a glitch.I ordered INFOPASS today and talked to them... useless. They have no idea why it came back.

They said the i485 was outdated, even though the date on it till 12/11.

I am starting all over.

did the fees change for I-485? now it says 1000.00 on USCIS site.

what a mess....

need ideas :-(
