I'll be coming to the US on a K1 in about a month or 2, I'm not sure how to go about buying the wedding dress, I don't wanna buy it from Egypt for a few reasons, but mainly because it'll take most of my luggage space and God forbids, that'd be bad since I'm trying to brings lots of things!

I could buy one online and ship it over at my in-laws so my fiancé won't see it, but I'd like the freedom of actually trying a few dresses on and see how they look on me!

I looked at David's bridal collection online, I might just buy it from there, I'm just not sure how long would it take to pick, fit/alter a dress on me? I'm hoping less than a month!

Where/how did you buy your dress? Especially if you're the beneficiary?

Thanks a bunch!

Hey there! Well... I've never bought a dress personally but I've assisted in the process many times. Regardeless of petitioner or beneficiary, almost all women go through this phase as they are preparing for their wedding. I'm sure you'll be just fine! :)

Buying a dress in the US is not hard, but it's time consuming and can be overwhelming. I would suggest you continue browsing dresses online until you reach the US. Once you arrive start visiting the stores which you ave been browsing for the particular dresses(write down item numbers or print pictures) you've liked online. They can then tell you how long it will take to alter/fit etc. Depending on the dress you prefer, its availability, if it will need to be shipped to the location you're fitting at, and ultimately how the particular dress fits you.... will determine how long it will take for the dress to be ready. However, I do think a month is more than enough time for the actual work to be done once you actually choose a dress. The tricky part is choosing the dress!!! lol.

Good luck and Happy shopping! :)

Since time is important, I would avoid ordering something online.... if there is a problem you might find yourself out of time to resolve it.... plus there are many on-rack selections to choose from.

If you like one from home, you could by it there and mail it rather than taking up room in your suitcase.

I personally wouldn't order it online sit-unseen because I've heard so many horror stories from people who've done this.

If you try www.theknot.com they have an unbelievable range to look through of all different price ranges and they list were you can purchase the dress. Also Etsy.com has loads of independent seamstresses with some really pretty dresses for reasonable prices. If you find one near you they can do your alterations. :)
