My wife was recently interviewed for an immigration visa..and she got a "refusal letter" stating that they require an AOS from petitioners father-I-864 and mother-I-864a..

I filed an I-864 for myself and my dad co-sponsored me with the I-864a...NVC approved it and we gave them the original docs at the interview..

My question is...what on earth do they want exactly??

Do you live with your dad?

Did your dad show just his income or joint income with your mom?

Based on above line, USCIS is thinking that your father is not living at your address, but your mother lives with you. Is that correct?

If the above line is correct, you included wrong form of your father's co-sponsorship.

Thanks for the reply guys..and yes I do live with my father and my mother..my dads income alone can suffice for support but I did mine as well and my dad as te co-sponsor..also my mother does not have any type of income..

Then it looks like, Interview officer wants I-864A from both your father and mother. Check with the Consulate and clarify.

I searched all instructions and manual, but this request from the Consulate looks weird.

Another question..do i still fill an I-864a for my mom even tho she doesn't have an income..

This has come up with other VJ members where a parent has been a cosponsor. The consulates were directed that in light of the current economic conditions they wanted to be sure that the spouse of the cosponsor to aware of the obligation, hence asking for the I-864a from the spouse even though it is not needed to meet the income requirement.

OP, yes, your mom needs to fill I-864A since Consulate asked it. Zero income doesn't matter, but fill it and submit it.
