How Can You Tell if Petition is 'Touched"

I notice some folks on the forums mention their petition was touched. When I plug my ID number into the USCIS website it only has Acceptance, Initial Review, Decision, Post-Decision..nothing about ongoing actions or being 'touched'. I am on the Initial Review phase, have received first notice. Is there anything else to look at to see if my petition has been 'touched' ? Thanks.

Check on the part where it says "last updated" my first date was 6/10/10. It was when they received my petition and was "touched" once on 07/09/10. That's the most recent date.

You have to create an account on the uscis.gov page and log into that to see the "Last Updated" field

Thanks for this question. Always wondered what that meant.

But now another random (yet rhetorical) question... Why is your package being touched and not being worked on? Random sticky fingers touching things for no good (meaningful) reason???

Touching can mean that they move the box that the petition sits in. From the receiving room to the aging room to the "they must be really crazy now we will look at it next month" room.

They must look at some petitions and think wow might just leave that one for a couple more weeks just to keep them going more insane then they already are!

My files have never been touched, and I've received an interview notice, etc. I really don't think they update it in all cases, so not to worry!

Some people got approval letters in the mail and the screen on USCIS never updated it always said "Initial Review" So dont concentrate to much on the touch....Also touch can mean what nigeriaorbust said.....but in most cases MsNaNa we pray that they are working on it for our sanity sake!!!!
