Hey guys as the date of my wife's interview nears I am filling out the documents needed and as I was filling out the information required. I obviously dont have much money in the account because of the wedding but I have a good job I am a high school teacher and have made 46K+ every year. what are your opinions do you think I might need to ask my dad to co-sponsor me to avoid getting a red flag or should i just go for it as is???

*** K-3 visa 'hopefuls' don't fill out an I-864, it's an I-134 for a K-3 interview - moving to IR-1/CR-1 forum ***

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Based on your timeline, you are pursuing K-3 visa and need to submit I-134 Affidavit of Support at this time.

When your spouse needs to do Adjustment of Status (AOS) after reaching the U.S, you need to submit I-864 and need to overcome the poverty guidelines. 46K+ is good enough.

Another case of I-129F and K-3, than IR1/CR1.

ya, but be certain of 'what's what' aye?

most consulates want the I-134

some want the I-864, instead. Make sure you know what CJ wants, yes?

cj does not even need I-134 and I-864. But prepare an I-134, just in case.

that's a trick question - they are asking if you have done it PRIOR to these two casefiles (you've ONE i-130 and ONE i-129F currently in play - have you filed an Affadavit of Support BEFORE this current 'set' of casefiles?)

this usually 'catches' people who have filed a petition prior, with different human.

thanks for the link I thought I navigated through all the links on the website and never saw this one. This is a great help. I pretty much have all the information ready for her to sign and take to the consulate.

Thanks again.

Darnell no I have only done this for my wife.

IF you've not done it BEFORE,

if this is the FIRST TIME...

then she doesn't count as 'prior'.

I'm not clear on K-3 vs CR-1 here, will assume K-3

*** moving to Embassy / Consulate discussion, as this is form for intake at Embassy, regardless of which form it is ***

$46k is good enough. you might want to include balance on your savings and checking accounts eventhough they do not ask to see statements. just declare the real balance and you should be fine with that income. goodluck!
