Showing intention of marriage when we don't know a date!

This has probably been brought up before, and I apologize if it has, but I couldn't find anything. How did people get around the showing proof of intention to marry (like catering contracts, etc) when it's impossible to know how long this process will take and therefore really difficult to actually PLAN a wedding date? FI and I are hoping that 9 months will be enough so we're tentatively planning, but how can we show the USCIS proof of intention when we haven't booked anything BECAUSE we don't want to have to cancel?

Many people are confused by this requirement. For the petition what they want are letters of intent from both the petitioner and the beneficiary. Like these:

Fiancée Letter of Intent

(Your Name)

(Your Address)

(Your Phone number)

(Service Center Address)

(Date)

Dear Sir or Madam:

I, (your name), do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry (fiance/e's name), and intend to do so within 90 days of his arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

Yours truly,

For the interview you'll need updated letters of intent and a receipt for the engagement ring (though I don't know if it's required).

Ah okay, thanks. I thought I read somewhere that you had to include evidence of intent to marry (besides the letter), such as catering contracts, save the dates, etc. The letter is pretty easy :)

I was at first worried about this as well. My fiance and I are going getting married in a court. We have no date, we just plan to get married as soon as we can after he gets his visa and moves here. So I was worried, how will we prove we plan to get married? We still don't have rings! I have been looking at rings since the beginning of this year and I still haven't found the perfect ring. And I do not want to rush and buy something just so we have a receipt to show at the interview. I will be wearing this ring for the rest of my life, I want to make sure I love it. So I was really worried of having no proof of a wedding. But, once I found out here on VJ that all you really need is a updated letter of intent, I feel a lot better. But I guess we'll see what happens, his interview is in less then a week from now... I'm nervous...

Nope, and unless it's been a looooong time since the petition phase, London probably won't even look at an updated letter, either.

I agree with Nick+Heather. London didn't ask for any updated proof of intent - I took a letter just in case and loads of photos, it was a waste of time making my shoulder sore with extra info!
