Chrysler's Gun-Toting Pickup Truck

Chrysler's Ram truck division is taking direct aim at hunters with a unique feature on its new line of Outdoorsman pickup trucksgrey_loader.gif - a gun closet.

Called the The Mopar RamBox Holster, its a rack that can hold two rifles or shotguns inside one of the lockable, watertight compartments located on either side of the pickup bed.

A $205 option - on top of the $1895 price of the RamBox feature itself - the rack can be rotated to hold six fishing poles for those who prefer quieter trips into the great outdoors.

The Outdoorsman starts at $28,350 and includes standard features like scratch-resistant bumpers, puncture-resistant tires, and a towing package. Buyers can order the trimline on most Ram models, including heavy duty and long wheelbase versions.

You have a history of advocating violence towards the undocumented. Sense of humor? Now that's funny.

none of that is here nor there when adding a "ranch hand bumper" for the purpose with a gun rack built into the truck... it kind of goes with the territory in the humor of the idea.

"the idea" being committing vehicular homicide? yes, how humorous.

They look pretty secure in there. As long as the rifle and scope are moving together, it shouldn't mess them up at all.

It may mess up an NC Star scope, but if you have anything decent, the bouncing up and down in a vehicle, even the constant vibration should be nothing compared to the shock it's engineered to endure when the rounds are fired.

I'm bettin such a compartment would be highly attractive to thieves.

Even if they couldn't get it open.. the damage would be an expensive repair.

Those compartments have long been available on other models of trucks. Billy and 'nem have always had tool boxes and truck caps and that sort of thing on their pickups. The only real difference with this one is it's directly marketed to "sportsmen" and thieves who know it's specifically a gun box could go for it's contents.

If I posted that, I'd be suspended. I guess it's too late for me to become one of the untouchables?
