Hey guys, hope all is well out there. My fiancee and I met a year and two months ago online. We finally met in person this past May for our 1st Anniversary of dating. We have plenty of emails, chat logs, a few monetary support receipts, and several gift receipts to prove of a relationship. Of course, I have all the documents for my visit as well. The problem is that I really didn't know what to expect when we met, and we really didn't treat our relationship as a court case as I am sure many of you can relate. We simply were going with the flow of our honest intentions toward each other. Now, I have done immense research into the K1 petitioning process, and I am learning of all the nuggets of information that will help. Mostly, thanks for the website! I know I need to start a timeline when submitting my evidence to make the case neat and give a timeframe window to the ones in charge. However, I did not communicate much through my phone other than texts, and I did not send any hard copy letters. Neither did she. After learning how valuble they can be, I began using my phone to make calls to her, and we are both going to begin sending letters. Now, if I showed evidence of our relationship, but they notice that there are no letters or phone calls or not much monetary support for the first year out of two or three years, would this be any kind of problem? Has anyone sent in a petition without snail mail proof or only shown snail mail and phone calls from later in the relationship as opposed to the beginning? Thanks for your time!

Letters with the petition are of virtually no value. They do not prove anything needed to be proven with the petition. "frontloading" is only of value in some extreme cases at difficult consulates. There is no penalty for providing too much info. They will in no way affect the approval of your petition.

As Gary as said, sending proof of an ongoing relationship is not needed for the petition to be approved. I have heard that going through the Philipines can be tough, my advice would be to post a thread in that forum and ask what other K1 filers did that went through the same embassy you will be going through. See what they sent in the beginning and later, you can learn a lot from others who have been in the same boat, and sometimes learn from their mistakes. Good Luck!

I did include some snail mail; mostly b-day card, valentines, christmas etc. Not sure if it really helped or not but I felt it did help support an "on-going" relationship the embassy wants us to prove in the petitions. My wife took these to her interview (july '09) and the officer did quickly look a them. Not sure of the weight they played in his decision, but my fiancee (now wife!) was approved with little delay.

Best wishes on your journey

philippines is one of the highly fraud countries..my fiance just sent(in I-129F) scanned envelopes of the snail mails we have..since he coulnd't get any phone bills, he is using prepaid cards to call me, he just sent them billing statement from the calling cards he brought..scanned and photocopies will do for the -129F...just keep the original ones whenever they might ask for RFE..btw, your fiancee will need those original ones prior to her interview at US embassy Manila9where she can have lots of evidences she wants to bring with her..hehe) :D ...you can also just add the recent ones you have whenever she will have her interview(part of the proof of ongoing relationship you have)...God bless!!..have a good day!! :D

I am new here, but in regards to posting in the Philippine portal, it seems that my post is automatically posted there given that the region under my registration is the Philippines. I appreciate all of the quick replies, and I am looking for general and specific responses. I am thankful for all of the information given. However, I should rephrase my specific question in mind. Given the fact that I need to organize my petition by dates, I wanted to start as far back as I can in my relationship. With that being said, I will only have letters and cards to send from now on. We never sent any in the first year. Do you think this discrepancy in the presentation of our time framed evidence will look bad?

Going through Manila is not especially difficult at all. It is sometimes referred to as a high fraud consulate but that is only because of the extremely high volume there. As for my case, since I attended my fiancee's interview, I was not asked for any proof of an ongoing relationship at all.

In any event, no "front loading" is needed for Manila and no evidence of an ongoing relationship is needed for the initial petition.

What about yahoo Im chat logs or copies of chats and emails....pictures of when he was visiting you and your family????

It does not have to cover the exact time frame starting when you first started communicating. You can never provide too much info so I would include any snail mails you guys exchanged.

Good luck to you both and if you have any questions about anything else in this entire process feel free to contact us.

I apoligize if I am giving the wrong information, I'm just going by what I have read. And there was another person who posted on this thread that went thru Manila and made the same claim that it is considered a high fraud country.

Hey guys, hope all is well out there. My fiancee and I met a year and two months ago online. We finally met in person this past May for our 1st Anniversary of dating. In the initial application as what my friends shared with me... they sent proof of evidence together with the form. If the uscis will need more they will send RFE and you have a week or two to send them what they need. Pictures, mails, chat logs etc.... as what they said are secondary (but still needed to be shown on her interview). What they are looking for is a proof that you can take care of your fiancee when she gets to your place. (ITR, payslip etc... )

Hi ToddnJessa, I understand your anxiousness about the proofs of your relationship. Don't worry much about it. What ever the first proofs and latest of friendship and lead to a relationship proofs go for it to submit & enclose for the Petition. Either my husband just choose 1-5 proofs of emails/letters submitted for the filling. We don't have much letters either, we only have emails & postal mail receipts. Your snail mail would be one of the great evidence and include some chat archives as well and atleast 3-6 pictures of both if you have and include the latest proofs card/statements/receipts between you & her and make a Letter of Intent stating your name and your fiance/e name, how did you meet and state your intention for this petition. Save the other evidences for future reference like bunch of e-mails/snail mails, etc.

Hope this would help you in some ways of idea. Good luck! Feeel free to ask next time.

Yours, ericdette137

According to your signature you've been together about 1 1/2 years. Why are you asking about 1 year out of two or three? Are you not planning to file for another 1 1/2 years or so? If so...it would be really hard to answer your question because we don't know what laws might change between now and then!

Our packet had in it EXACTLY what is listed in the guides on this forums as "Mandatory". I know there are consulates that are easier than others, but one of you at the least has the passport stamps to prove you met. You have to have pictures together etc. The stamps in the passport is probably the most important information for this process!

Like already said, the hard proof of meeting is the most important part of the I-129F: passport stamps, flying tickets, pictures together. Focus on this, and all else will be extra which can help. On my packet, I also only sent those 3 basics.

Something I've read around here, is to have extra pictures for the interview, so as to show some new ones if asked.

I just love to receive mail, so I wrote to my husband (fiance back then) a lot, and he wrote back to me. It was silly because we did talk everyday on the internet, but it just felt good to receive something from him every other week. So, if you want to try, I don't see a problem on the fact you have not done it since the beginning of you two meeting, because you are asked to tell how you met, and same at the interview, and whatever can happen in the middle that you guys decide to send letters, or travel more, anything. It is your story!
