I didn't think Obama said anything that was offensive or negative to Scouting and I am not going to pretend to know if he was sincere or not.

I got a card from President Ford and Carter when I received my Eagle. I never liked Carter even a little but still cherish the card because it came from the President of the United States. There is a fine line between protesting and being offensive to the Office. My personal opinion is while wearing the uniform of Scouting you should respect both the uniform and the Office of the President.

Your personal opinion is correct I do not agree with the Obama agenda but I would not nor allow my my children to show disrespect to the president. We can speak out against his agenda and views but it does not have to be disrespectful to the presidency or the man himself.

The way to change the president is not to denigrate him but to render him irrelevant through his record. That way he will not become a martyr or an under dog who receives the sympathy vote, but a lame duck who should be quietly let go.

Quietly questioning in an insistent manner whether the president should call a police officer 'stupid' as a knee jerk reaction has more negative effect on his standing than calling him a name and shouting something about his ears.

Right.

But WHY didn't he go to the celebrations personally?

IMO-to rather campaign for funds instead of attending a major anniversary-when he is THE 'LEADER' of a GREAT movement that benefits so many and enriches the lives of our young people-is somewhat of an affront and smacks of insincerity.

I am ex Military from a Military family. I have not liked the policies nor the personalities of recent presidents, but have always afforded them the respect of their office......Because they have afforded me respect too.

What Obama sold to the Boy Scout Jamboree'ers was a weak ####, insincere poor excuse for respect of the institution , accomplishments of it's membership,congratulations or a celebration......THAT deserved a boo to the 'Boy Scout leader'.
