Don't use the word "Wife" or "Husband" when filing or interviewing for a K-1 visa. You are applying for a FIANCE visa, that only applies to FIANCES.

Having said that as long you have met with in the last 2 years of filing your petition you should be fine. Although, if you have a difficult embassy you may want to make a few more visits. Make sure you have proof that you have met.

My wife got a tourist visa before we filed for our K-1. If you can afford it, try to get the tourist visa 1st then apply for the K-1 if you can do this. Then after you apply for the K-1 you can visit while you wait for the K-1 to be adjudicated. Of course I'm making this sound very easy but you should look into it more for yourself and see if this can work for you. It worked for us. But there are many different variables to be considered.

Add to the Edit: Just saw that you have already filed for your K-1. You can still try for the tourist visa but, it is even more of an uphill battle.

thanks for the suggestion, but i think that i would rather waiting for noa2, hopefully soon then do interview at the embassy :)

also, remember that if you want to turn in a document that says wife or husband, you can mark it out with a black marker, like a sharpie, as they allow you to mark out personal things. mark out the whole sentence, they don't need to know what it is. it's personal. just make sure to go through anything you send or bring before hand.

"he also like to call me sweetheart, my love, honey" sounds like he's stealing my pet names for my fiance! lol

The crossing things out has backfired in Lagos. The CO insisted to know what words had been edited out and when they found out it was hubby / wife , they then denied them on the grounds of not being single. ( then again Lagos sets the standard for evil behavior on the part of embassy employees )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

ah ok, thank you for that info. Good to know! I remember reading about blacking out personal info in instructions, but can't remember if it was in forms, Uscis site, or the guides here. I wish something so potentially harmful isn't mentioned in such instances.

Please ignore my suggestion if it'll lead to risk.

I'd just makes sure to always check anything to be used/submitted for those pet names.

Wow, this is incredible about the use of "wife" or "husband" in chats and emails. Recently to buttress our morale I have, on a few occasions in emails and chats, called my fiancee "my November wife" as I wishfully guesstimate when we will wed. So now I'll just stop that. If it weren't for some being denied for this, I would consider this tactic silly childish rubbish.

Note:  I am the U.S. citizen sponsor.  All info below applies to my immigrant wife.

Lagos is an exceptionally hard consulate. It is the type of place if you file for a k1 and have gotten in the habit of referring to your SO by hubby/wifey and that words slips out of your mouth at the interview you will be immediately denied. So if you are from a difficult place ( Asia/Middle Ease /Africa/?? ) I would recommend avoiding the risk.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
