Hi Everyone, I have noticed when I am looking at the I-129f form in Adobe reader there is a bar code at the bottom of every page of the form, but when I print it out the bar code is gone. Is this a specific issue with my software or does the bar code just go away? would you mail it without a bar code if it should be there?

Thanks, Michael

Hi, there is only a bar-code at the bottom of the 1st page on the form my fiancée sent. It is on the printed page but is not readable by a scanner because of the quality of the printing. We didn't have a problem with this. I didn't even really paid attention to this matter until now so I would have sent it with or without bar-code.

That said, maybe someone here knows more specifically what this bar-code is for and if it is really important that it is printed.

Good luck for your journey

The bar code just contains the form number and revision date. It's not like the two-dimensional bar code on the DS-156 that contains actual encoded data from the form. Try clicking on it in Adobe Reader and you'll see what I mean.

I doubt USCIS makes any productive use of the bar code. Since all of the forms are now distributed online, and people are printing them at home, I would imagine a fair percentage of the I-129F's they receive don't have a readable barcode, mainly because many inkjet printers can't print lines that thin.
