Event Date
Port of Entry : Houston
POE Date : 2010-12-16
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : Only took fingerprints of 4 digits of right hand and a picture. Total time spend was about 20 min. The first officer took my passport and envelope and told me to wait for a second officer that brought me in a separate room. Then another officer just handed me back the passport with the I-94 asking only if I came in the US before. He then notified me that I had 90 days to marry and that I needed to AOS and said best wishes and good bye.

Consulate Review: France
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 18, 2010
Embassy Review : I arrived at 12:40 and they let me in. There was a few people in already and 2 other cases of fiancé visas before me. I waited about 15 min to be called to the 1st window where they ask only for the interview letter and the ticket you take in the waiting room.
After that I waited around 45 min to be called to the 2nd window. Here they ask for all the forms and papers (birth certif, police certif....). The lady here was pretty friendly and made a comment that I had all the papers very well ordered and ready. She asked if I or my fiancée were married before and if we had kids to determine if she would take our co-sponsor I-134 form and documents. She also asked if our families approved of the relationship and if we made plan yet for my trip there and the wedding ceremony. In the end she took it because my fiancée is currently a student.
About 1 hour later I was called to the 3rd and last window with the consul lady. She only asked 4 questions :
- how did you meet your fiancé?
- what do you do for a living?
- what are you planning to do for a living there?
- where will you live?
Those 4 questions were asked in English but all the rest was in French.
After that she said "if everything goes well you should receive your visa between 4 and 10 days".
She asked if understood everything and if I had questions or remarks so I asked if she wanted to see the new pictures and other ongoing relationship I had but she said no so I said "have a nice day" and "goodbye" and I left.
I was out of the embassy at 15:10 so the entire time inside was 2h30.

Embassy Review : Overall it went well and better than I anticipated.
The line wasn't very long to get to the first CBP officer. He only took fingerprints of 4 digits of right hand and a picture. The first officer took my passport and envelope and told me to wait for a second officer to bring me in a separate room. Then another officer just handed me back the passport with the I-94 asking only if I came in the USA before. He then notified me that I had 90 days to marry and that I needed to AOS and said best wishes and good bye.
The total process from passing the plane door to having my passport back was about 30min.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
