hi all. i have a question regarding the I-134. my fiance (from another country) and i both live currently live in south korea. i have a job here that meets the financial requirements to sponsor her, but i will quit once/if her k-1 visa is approved and we move to the u.s., as my current employer is a korean company. a lawyer told us we won't need a co-sponsor, as my tax returns from last year are adequate. but i read on here that they really scrutinize this part of the process. i won a home and have stocks and savings in the u.s. but, again, i won't have a job right away. has anyone dealt with this? should i find a co-sponsor anyway?

also, does anyone know what happens after the I-129F is approved, in terms of what we actually receive? do we get the documents to fill out - like the I-134 - and other information on what to do next? do we just schedule an interview after the NVC approves it, or do we have to wait? just trying to get everything in order ahead of time so we'll be ready.

thanks in advance...

Please let us know what embassy you will be interviewing at so we can answer correctly because each embassy is different when it comes to how you will receive documents after approval. For the most part once you are approved your case will be shipped to the NVC once there you can call them and they will give you a new case number. they will then ship your case to the interviewing embassy. After that things could be different for your embassy so it is better we know where your interview so that we can provide you with accurate information because some emabassies mail out pkt 3 and 4 and some you can download and some embassies send you your interview date before you even get pkt 3 and 4 per your request via email.. As far as the I-134 they will not give it to you. You can print it off the uscis.gov website and take it to the interview with you. I hope this answers most of your questions....Good Luck hopefully someone else can answer the question about the sponsor and co-sponsor I have no knowledge of how that works

It would be best if you could line up a joint sponsor in the US. Without current income, this could be a a real issue and is usually a problem for Americans who wish to repatriate with their K-1 fiance(e)'s. Even though your taxes show you met the minimum and you have assets, a joint sponsor might be required to get the approval. Many Embassies/Consulates give greater weight to current income flow.

If the assets you have exceed 5 times the income level needed or about $91,000 in cash, stock, bonds, real estate etc..., then you could qualify based on assets.

Good luck.
