NOA1??

Recommended Posts

My husband sent off our I-130 Package July 17th, 2010. There is still no NOA1 received. I'm judging based off of the average timeline and it seems we are way behind. I'm worried. Do we wait longer before trying to contact anyone? We looked up the package's location via USPS and it says it made it to Chicago on July 21st. I wonder what the hold up could be.

This isnt the first post i've seen about the NoA1... Check a few pages seems to be quite a wait going on. From what people say, it can take up to 60 days. Mine was received on the 13th. Ive been waiting til now. I feel behind but better than we arent the only ones. hopefully this issue ends with happy endings for all of us.

No. He just sent it as priority mail and foolish him sent the receipt of the money order sent. I'm sure he can still trace it if he goes to the location he got it from, by using his name and what not. I should tell him to go ahead and do that.

I got my NOA1 8 days after i sent in my i-130

maybe thats a good sign

Of course, that's good for you and I am glad to hear this!

My third week is almost completed without NOA1. I wouldn't complain USCIS unless and until I hear a positive/negative outcome. Sometimes, I do make mistakes :-)

Great news!! Hubby received NOA1 in the mail today! Phew! I feel better, although there is still much more ahead, at least this is one step forward. So what's next now? Will they contact him? I didn't send in the affidavit of support. When does that get sent?

The affidavit of support isn't until NVC. So now you can sit tight and wait.

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut

Take a look at the link and familiarize yourself with NVC. Work on getting your long form birth certificate and maybe look into getting your police check.

Remember, the interview will be in Montreal

Good luck

Thanks so much. How recent would they want the police check. I just did one in April, but they would want one that is closer to the date of an interview I assume? I'll order my Long Form birth certificate soon, just to get it out of the way. Wow, I never realized I would have to go to Montreal.

Yup, Montreal is the only consulate that does spousal visas

Montreal consulate will only accept police certificates less than a year old. SO you may have to get a new one for good measure. I had one in June and I interviewed the following May and required a new police cert.

Good luck

Question: Do both me and my husband have to attend the interview?

Only the beneficiary is required to attend. Many filers interviewing in Montreal have attended alone and had absolutely no issues at all. Certainly if the spouse wants to attend they can. My husband (the US spouse) came with me, they allowed him into the interview room and asked him a few questions as well. So if you would like your spouse there for moral support it's fine but not required. Good luck!
