JULY 28--Declaring that white people "shouldn't be listening to rap music," a 14-year-old Florida boy allegedly assaulted a man Monday night in what police say was a racially-motivated attack. The teenager was arrested after he allegedly struck the 22-year-old victim, who is white, in the face.

The victim was on a sidewalk listening to rap music when he was confronted by the boy and other teenagers. The suspect told the man to turn off his music, adding that he was "white and he shouldn't be listening to rap music." When the victim replied that he "could listen to whatever he wants," the suspect "repeatedly" punched him in the face.

The man sustained a swollen left eye during the assault, cops reported. The teen attacker gave a fake name when initially approached by cops, but was later identified by his mother. The boy was arrested and booked into Brevard County's juvenile detention facility for misdemeanor battery and giving cops a false name. However, if the incident is determined to be racially motivated, the battery charge could be elevated to a felony via a so-called hate-crime enhancement.

not sure if this is a real hate crime or just more of this generations ability to do what ever they want as there is no real punishment allowed in the homes or the schools.........

i seriously think that this generation, white, black, latin it dont matter there is no longer anything they fear as a consequence for what they do so they are just running wild doing what ever they feel like...........

I will agree with that, however, it's blatantly a hate crime. You better believe if their races were switched Al and Jesse would be on TV already.

Going along with your statement though, the reason you're hearing about this kind of thing now is because back in the day, if a 14-year-old punched a 22-year-old in the face, he would've got beat down. Now, everybody's scared to do anything because the cops will take them to jail for doing so.

That is, until they actually charge him with a hate crime then Al and Jesse do get involved saying, "this is an exermountabilital abhoration of an abomination that a young brother would be charged in this nation in a silly consternation on a playground of an incident that was nothing more than boys being boys doing their vocation while on summer vacation...."

Certainly a hate crime and the lack of high-profile commentator reaction is telling, especially after the fustercluck made over the Shirley Sherrod debacle. Are they scared that it isn't true? Are they scared that it is true? Or don't they care? Whichever way you look at it, their standing is diminished by their silence.

Certain members are usually up in arms if this occurs the other way round, yet strangely enough tend to go all mum when the perpetrator is not Caucasian.

Just another day in America though, had the victim been black..... well we all know the drill by now.

PS I will say this though, good on his mother for speaking up. I lost count of the times saw some idiot claim the perpetrator of a double murder was a good boy.
