Calls to Egypt

Good afternoon MENA... i need your opinion on how to call Egypt.. we were using Pingo but it really sucks... so i got international calling for 3.99 a month on att.. it costs 38 cents a minute... i heard of gorilla mobile but they aren't in business anymore... Pingo cost about 14 cents a minute but you can hardly hear sometimes and sometime the calls don't go through... any ideas on companies or calling plans that are reasonable.. thanks

try localphone.com I am not sure what the rate is but you can always go there to see I use it and I love it

We use www.joinvip.com for Morocco(.4 cents a min to a landline)however they do have a mideast plan. I never had a problem with them.

Is that a pinless calling system? The system (africom) that I use has a higher rate, but it's pinless calling. I can call from my phones and it will automatically register as my account and I only have to enter the # I'm calling - no account or pin number, etc. Thanks.

Yes it's pinless. Just set up your account with your home/cell numbers and you can also all speed dials. It gives you a detailed report of each call made, I believe it holds up to 2 years of reports. I'm not sure if they still have this but if you sign up with them (at least $25)and put Wafin.com as the referral you will get a credit(something like $20). I've been using them for years.

We used www.pennytalk.com to talk to my hubby's family. You can take your most frequent phone numbers and get an USA phone number assigned to it so that way you can call from any phone with using account number and the long way. I haven't had any trouble with it.

How is the quality of the call? My husband uses pingo but the quality sucks and his family never knows it's him calling since it's a different number that pops up each time.

The easiest way would be to use magic jack but that requires that the party you are calling in Egypt has an internet hook up at home.

Problem with those is, they have to have the computer on all the time which my husband's family has a problem with. So we'll have to get a phone card to call them to tell them to turn the magic jack on. Or he just waits until they call him and then they give him hell for not calling.

We have magic jack too. You cant mail the magic jack to them, cause Egypt will send it back to you in the Usa, saying the Egyptian authority has not approved it. We had to take it with us when we visited Egypt on the plane and then they wont take it cause its your personal property. So his family plugs it in the computer and calls everyday. It is a usa number so I can call them back if the quality is not good and that usually makes the quality perfect. Its worked for us so far everytime. So just say let me call you right back and try that for perfect quality.
