Yup, it's pretty annoying. What maddened my husband and I was why they couldn't just have kept the package and sent back the problem forms. It would have at least saved on postage, wouldn't it? I was always under the impression before that so long as the form dates are valid, then the form is good to use. But it would seem that that isn't so at all.

Ah well, I guess overall it is not a huge disaster. I just don't enjoy the extra delay. Lucky for us, at least it's only a few weeks.

Some of the forms they will accept different editions. Unfortunately the one we screwed up on it explicitly says "previous editions not accepted". Would be nice if they had waited till the dang thing expired before replacing though.

Since our G1145 form had actually expired, it's lucky that my husband and I checked all the other forms as well "just in case". We almost didn't do this and ended up only correcting the obvious mistake, but it just seemed so strange that our entire application would be rejected due to this one simple (and not actually required for the AoS application) form.

Hopefully once this package goes off today, it'll just be a matter or waiting before we're logged into the system and our application can officially begin being processed. I definitely would recommend to all VJers here though that they do not rely on the expiration dates stated on the forms alone - they definitely should also compare their version of the forms to the current ones on the USCIS website. I guess I can appreciate that they would reject our I485 because there are new questions in the updated version, but it does bother me that the form I used had not actually expired.

What really irked me was what a mess of our application they made though! The whole thing was in total disorder. It took me over three hours yesterday to put it all in the right order again. I'm just so glad no one there opened our sealed envelope from the civil surgeon - it seems everything else was scanned into some sort of system, because every page has some sort of ID/date stamp on it now. So I'm glad they didn't mess with the medical form.

Anticipating a rejection due to REVISED I-485. I did the same thing, prepared in February and filled out forms in July. I guess I should be getting mine back some time early next week.

this sucks!!!

Where did you guys get your forms from? Was it that you downloaded the forms weeks ahead of when you sent them off? I don't know which versions I sent off but I guess if they were out of date then they've ignored that on my application. Maybe.

I got really scared reading all this too but your application got accepted so don't worry.. these forms are at least a couple of months old so unless you prepared them way back then, you're fine.

I can't remember exactly where I downloaded our forms from. It was either visajourney or the USCIS website. I don't even remember when the forms were downloaded, either.

The unfortunate thing about the situation with I485 is that the form we sent off was valid. However, it seems that USCIS just will not accept this version of the form when there is a different one now available. I can see a lot of applications being returned because of this issue - anyone who hasn't sent off their application should probably check on the USCIS website to make sure that they have the most up to date versions. Don't just rely on the expiry dates, because as I said---our form had not expired.

Those of you that are worried about whether you sent in the wrong I485--if you have a copy of the form you completed, then you can always compare it to what's on the USCIS website. If the versions match, then you should be fine.

I downloaded FROM USCIS website but in February, I read that this could happen if you download from somewhere else. My mistake was that I did not re-download the forms before sending. AArrrgghh!!

I wish I could fedex that form now before they send it back.

Ugh. Now I'll be paranoid until I check my version dates on the forms we sent.

I really wish that person who creates those forms would let the other stuff expire before they pop out new ones. Instead of making a new form every time he/she has a dream about an awesome new question, they should put a dream journal beside of their bed and make a nice, lovely list. Then when the other form expires, guess who has all kinds of ideas for the new one! Aww wouldn't that be better. Such a smart little USCIS form maker! :bonk:

Did you end up putting together all the documents and the forms from scratch or just the expired one? What about the Supporting Documents? Can I use the documents/forms they sent back or do I need to re-print and generate all the documents again?

I guess I am trying to figure out the amount of effort I will have to put into it once I get it back.

Well the thing is when they get the packet they tear it all apart and stamp every page down the whole right side with the date etc. I pretty much reprinted the whole packet. Not only that but I had to change the date on everything as well...it wasn't the 6th anymore, it was now the 19th so I had to change dates before signing them. A couple things there was nothing I could do about, like my husbands job letter...I had sent the original on company letterhead. I probably could have just redone the one form (times 4 in my case...3 kids) but since I had no idea what the heck was wrong in the first place ...I just ended up doing it all. After spending 6 hours on it last night...I wouldn't do it again. I'd do the one form and let them deal with their date stamps. It was probably overkill but I'm ####### like that.

ROFL! Yeah I've been constantly complaining about it since the moment it arrived in my mailbox. It is pretty stupid to revise the damn thing before it even expires. I guess thats why the new one has a dec 2010 expire date while the old one has an expire date of 2011 sometime. Someone figured that it would be revised by then to might as well shorten the date!

I guess I dont mind printing the forms again but the documents that I attached - I would HATE to copy them again and re-collect them.

Wonder if someone else just did the outdated form(s). I dont feel like putting that mess together. Already having headache!

Since you know already that its coming I'd just start doing it now...when it gets there you can head over to the post office and send it back out. If I knew ahead of time I would have just redid the whole thing and swapped with the mailman when it came! LOL
