The amount of security checks are already high and is it inconvienent? Sure, but you know what? I'm willing to wait and I am waiting. I come from a country that 94% Muslim but we are both Christians and we are waiting with everyone else. It takes alot to protect national security. This is the price we pay for freedom. :star:

I realize the scrutiny your embassy will put you under feels like a hardship, and I know how it is to wait so long to continue on with your life and with your loved one the way you have chose for it to be. There are however couples like my husband and myself coming from countries involved in todays headlines, who have to worry about much greater things than waiting a bit longer to be together (in your case you are already together). I now have to worry more so if my husband will arrive here safe in three weeks. I have to worry that tomorrow morning he will be traveling into London on public transportation, that was only just hit a year ago by terrorists and in light of todays headlines it seems anything is possible. I have to worry that tomorrow morning my husband will be sitting in an American embassy in of all places London. This was all supposed to be happy times for us finally reaching our goal of getting a visa and being reunited for good, but thanks to some extremists I now have more to worry over!

More detailed checks? If that is what it takes to help make my husband's country as well as mine safe then so be it. I would like to be able to travel freely between the two without worrying about some jack*ss who is happy go lucky with homemade bombs and box cutters!

You think you have worries, walk in my shoes for a few miles tonight and every other night until my husband arrives home safely!

i am sorry dear but life is too cruel. we have to face it now. pakistan, saudia, egypt, algeria, uae. iraq, ira, every country with name of islam on it is gonna be under extra extra security cheks which means an unending timeline.

I think what concerns me most, is not the proper functioning of timely, orderly, and FAIR security checks that may become necessary. The problem is, only a few of these terrorists are actually in an FBI file or database somewhere to be found that way while everyone is delayed. The majority of terrorists have no criminal history, walk around laughing and hanging out like anyone else, hold jobs, have families and no one would suspect. Most terrorists, will clear a process just fine, it's an ineffective process for finding terrorist. And here we have certain unnamed high up government officials who have won great disfavor in their term hoping to clear that name with a few good deeds such as harping on the effectiveness of homeland security before feeling that swinging door revolve who are build this latest occurance up into a major frenzy using words such as "islamist fascists" to get the nation more panicked about muslims... sighs...

My concern, is these terrosrists are smart, yes, the security checks and continuing efforts improve homeland security are great, but if a major terrorist organization wants to do some horrific stunt, they are smart enough to use members who have a squeaky clean record anyway. The news spouting of reports emphasizing "islam" as a negative word these days is no more than a panic ploy to build up a thus far faulty agenda and increase religious intolerance and prejudice. Not ALL muslims are terrorists!!! In fact, most muslims are born into the religion, never know any other and never had a choice in it and if they do choose it islam specifically teaches peace and nowhere does it give anyone the permission to blow up airplanes or anything else.

How can they really know who is and isn't a terrosrist and the ones who are a a "small" portion of the world. Reviewing each case, and attempting to actually take the time to get to know the beneficiary is the most effective way and even that is shaky. So what consular or adjucator is going to want to take the time, make a thorough prompt and investigation of ones personality and later be the signature on the page that got a terrorist into the country??? That is going to be their mentality on it people... They are going to try their best to say "NO" for any reason or cause "just to be safe" because some man is from an arabic country and or muslim to boot. There is no fair in this situation....

Perhaps personality or psychological testing at the time of interview would be more effective, who knows... but the unfair prejudice that this kind of news is sure to create for those of us who fell in love with an arabic person in this time in history, is not fair or effective.

Sorry for those of you that are good, decent people but I have to say I'm glad. The main focus of immigration should be security.
