I think adding a section to share ideas, tricks, plans etc. when it comes to planning a wedding on a K1 visa or similar, would be a great addition to the forums!

I know from experience that planning a wedding in so few months, along with all the stress of moving and settling, can be very tough. I think it would be great to have a place to share throughs, ideas etc.

I agree with you! I think that is a brilliant idea. I'd love to have a place where brides and grooms to be can gather to discuss wedding plans. I'm starting to put together some ideas for wedding giveaways and potential reception locations. My fiancé steps in when it comes to the budgeting. "Toni, not this! Toni, what is this? We don't need that." lol.

2-12-10: I-129F arrived at CSC

2-16-10: NOA1 issued

2-20-10: NOA1 hard copy received

4-5-10: NOA2 issued

4-9-10: NOA2 hard copy received

4-26-10: Embassy sent Toni a letter

6-9 & 11-10: Medical at SLMEC - PASSED!

7-1-10: Interview - BLUE

7-6-10: Submitted additional evidence of current sustained income (paychecks)

7-13-10: Visa Approved! (FINALLY!!!)

7-19-10: Visa Issued!

7-21-10: VISA IN HAND! (Thank God! The wait is finally over.)

8-26-10: POE: LAX

10-29-10 Wedding

AOS & EAD TIMELINE

4-1-11: AOS Package arrived at Chicago Lockbox

5-2-11: NOA issued for AOS & EAD

5-6-11: NOA hard copy received for AOS & EAD

5-6-11: Biometrics appointment letter received

5-20-11: AOS Package was transferred to CSC

5-26-11: Biometrics appointment

5-26-11: EAD approved (that was faaaaaaasst!)

10-3-11: AOS finally approved!

I'd love to have a place where brides and grooms to be can gather to discuss wedding plans.
Somewhat tongue-in-cheekily speaking, the section should be for brides-to-be only. The grooms'-to-be only role is to shut UP, stay OUT of the way, and let the women plan EVERYTHING. Why?

1. The most dangerous food is Wedding Cake. Si, man.

2. Socrates died from an overdose of wedlock. Si, man.

3. Bigamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is the same thing. Si, man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Might not be a bad idea as a sub-forum to the K1 section.

Would promote intermingling of the membership also, instead of everyone hiding in their monthly filer thread or their regional forum.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

That's not true..my husband (and his mom) planned a huge portion of our wedding.

If you think about it, a lot us foreigners will not have too many guests coming from our side because of distance.

Our wedding was basically 90% his family and friends, 10% mine.

The ladies like to plan usually..

but some circumstances call for a less traditional amount of cotribution from the man, simply because percentage wise, it was more his wedding than mine :lol:

Well, that sounds like an anomaly to me; both times, I was told (sternly the first time, nicely the second) to shut up, stay away from all plans, and do as I was told, si man. In retrospect, my fizzicle (this should be the spelling, si man) safety was ensured as a result of following those directions, si man.
