Hello Everyone

My wife has AOS interview scheduled from a K-3 visa,

Will they put us apart at the interview and ask questions?

Will copies be ok if the originals were given to USCIS before (at the counsulate in China), my prior attorney did not tell us we would need ORIGINALS of the documents given to the consulate. Now I only have copies of the marrage certificate and birth certificate from China and now that my wife is here it is difficult to get originals. Has anyone gone to the interview with copies of originals previously submitted????

Has anyone that was married in another country married again in the USA when they arrived? I am thinking this would solve the problem of a marriage certificate in a language other than english.

Thank you all, and good luck.

I know the interview letter states it wants the original documents, is there a way of going a certified copy from the embassy, or from public records in China, or is there any family in China that could go and get a certified copy?

These are the only things I can think of that might work, where is your interview and when, may be you could call there office where the interview is being held and find out about needing the original.

Sorry I couldn't be much help, I am sure there are others on the board that could offer more insight and advice.

Good Luck and I hope you get it all sorted out satisfactorily soon :)

Your wife is on someone's hukuo book back in China - that family member can go back and get all for you, except the notarial translation of the marriage certificate. (Unless she has no living relatives in China )

IMO, bring extra copies , regular photocopies, of those 'original documents', give to USCIS person, ask for YOURS to be returned to you, swap your copies for your originals (except for the police clearance report)

You were supposed to get the originals back at GUZ, on interview day, but many times this doesn't happen.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yes, but they did not offer her the originals in GUZ. I have the original birth cert coming but I am not able to get the marriage certificate. I can only hope it will not be a problem now. Thanks for your response.

Yes I have one of the documents coming, but not other ones. I hope they have the original in the file. Thanks for your post.

Yes I know of one person that did this and is in deep shite after doing so. You are MARRIED and CANNOT marry again without first divorcing. Polygamy is illegal (from what I know, who knows with some states :S) so DO NOT plan on doing this. Married is married, no matter what country it was done in.
