We are just starting the process of myself immigrating to be with my husband in USA. I don't see anything on moving possessions. Is that allowed once I receive my Immigrant Visa and actually cross the border? Also one other question? After filing the I-130 is it automatically go for CR1 or do we still have to file the I-129 for K3? I understand the CR1 bypasses the I-129 now.

I had started shipping my stuff to the US about three to four months before I got my immigrant visa.

There is no restrictions regarding moving your possessions.

Also, you do not have to file I-129F for K3.

Actually there are restrictions, you cannot move your belongings until you move - they can accompany you or you can bring them in after, I mean you can move them before but they may incur duty, if you wait, they will not.

You are allowed to bring in your personal possessions for up to 10 years. You should have owned the items personally for at least a year.

How does USPS know that you are moving possessions if you are shipping a box full of clothes to your fiance/husband? do they have access to immigration records? I sent like 10 packages in the span of 10 months before we even applied for a visa. Never had a problem. Just asking because I am very curious.
