It's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't. Had Obama accepted these offers especially from United Nations, most people would whined and moaned about how America is giving up its sovereignty. Since Obama didn't accept the help, he's being criticised. It's the same mentality that was in affect during Katrina and 9/11. Lots of countries including Iran wanted to send help. But America said collectively, "Thank you, but we don't need your help."

I believe there comes a time in a countries history when it becomes so powerful and so proud that it cannot and shouldn't accept help from other countries. America has far supressed this point long ago. America can do this on its own if it really wants to do this.

Weird. I thought the conservatives wants to get away with international help since they always think about themselves rather helping another country in need. But, when the US is in need of help, they want the other countries to help.

Scratch my back, and I won't scratch yours.

Yeah were all just heartless ba5tards.

Australia didn't offer to help and is selfish as usual in regards to helping in a disaster. They never made good on their tsunami pledges either. And that "it's all about me" attitude comes through loud and clear on this forum too.

You must have missed who has been by the United States side in every single war; you know, the time when people actually die and stuff. I think Aussies know America would not accept assistance for something like this. Not even if the Gulf coast fell into the ocean; it's call pride. Hence, refusing the assistance of every other country. So why bother?

PS Guess which country's firefighters come help when CA is burning?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Great Britain?

No actually they went to war with you. Vietnam ring a bell - amongst others.

Pride gets you nowhere bud and has resulted in a lot of previous superpower going the way of the dodo.
