A wall is needed period. Its not counter productive as it's clearly saying keep out.

If anything, this incident proves the need for a wall. Without a wall, the Untied States will continue to play such games with Mexican nationals and officials.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

No - the first step is to enforce employment law to remove the incentive to come, not wait several years while expensive walls are built that cannot be cost-effectively patrolled and maintained (and which create political problems with a country that supplies a lot of the US' manufactured goods).

What about terrorists and drug smugglers? They gonna be applying for work?

the US benefits a lot more from Mexico than viceversa.

Money sent home by Mexicans abroad plunged a record 15.7 percent in 2009 as migrants worldwide struggled to find work during the global economic slowdown, the central bank reported Wednesday.

Remittances - Mexico's No. 2 source of foreign income after oil exports - totaled $21.2 billion in 2009, compared with $25.1 billion in 2008, the bank said.

Thank you for proving my point, Charles. Yet you see MickeyD's in full blast all around Mexico, lots of imported American products that rarely have competition with the Mexican counterparts.

Dude, the majority of Mexico's economy is fuel by the United States. The US does more for the Mexican economy than the other way around. You realize that if the $23 billion had been left in America and spent in America, that would result in hundreds of thousand of jobs for the United States economy.

Mexico's government says the number of Mexicans injured by U.S. immigration authorities has increased this year.

Numbers are numbers, but I'd more interested in the PERCENTAGE of those injured, based on those who actually made it across the border during an illegal border crossing.

Alas, no one really tracks THAT number - it's all an approximation.

My best guess - The percentage is either constant, or going down, as the actual NUMBER of those making the crossing increases each year - so the NUMBER of those being injured increases also.

Not all of the oil is sent to the US, hope you are aware of that.

Wow - Mexico sure does have some problem with the safety of it's 'migrants'.

Perhaps now is good idea for Mexico to station troops along it's northern border, to protect it's citizens from brutalized attacks.

Nah, nevermind.

(the above was satire)
