While they came to pursue the American Dream, they said, and wanted to become Americans, they are now fed up with what they see as an

arbitrary system that had allowed them to run a business for almost a decade until the day it did not.

Was it different 10 years ago ? where an E-2 MIGHT result in the awarding of US Citizenship for an E-2 visa holder?

It was my understanding they could NEVER become Americans, to begin with.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Amnesty?

They could have grown the business so it met the qualifications of an EB5

One of them could have the E2, the other EAD and get sponsorship that way.

They could divorce and marry USC's.
