I got my driver's license :):dance:

After living in Toronto for 12 years (8 years of which could have been driving years) and living in the US for 2.5 years, I now have a valid VA driver's license :luv:

And pssssst... at almost 40, I too will soon have my very first valid drivers' license. I lived in Montreal and Toronto for my valid driving years -- never needed one.

Interview Assigned - December 3, 2009 - FINALLY!!

Medical - December 14, 2009 - Passed

Embassy/Interview - January 26, 2010 Montreal, Quebec Canada - 167 days PASSED!!!

Port of Entry - February 26, 2010 Baltimore International, Maryland

USCIS -- ROC package sent off

November 26, 2011 to Vermont station November 30, 2011 received NOA1December 16, 2011 received biometrics appointment.

January 04, 2012 Biometrics

September 2, 2012, RFE Received.

September 22, 2012 RFE responded to

October 15, 2012 ROC approved, 10 Green card on its way.

I am seriously 'thinking' of getting mine...also for the first time. Never needed it before since the transit was great....

So Liz - aren't you scared sh*tless by these Virginia drivers? Gawd knows I am :( Maybe I can just driver Sunday mornings at 6 am to the grocery store and back?

I am 21 and still don't have my driver's I will be getting one as soon as I can when I get to the states though.

I was 20 when I got my license. I feel a lot better about that now! I never had a "full" license until I moved here, since I only had my G2 in Ontario and never went to get my full G. It transferred over just fine, so in hindsight that was a pretty good decision!

I really am!!

BUT!!! I actually went on my first drive to Leesburg (approximately 33 miles) ON THE HIGHWAY with a girlfriend and it was suprisingly good!!!! I wouldn't recommend doing that drive in RUSH HOUR because people tend to be bitchy before/after work so there tends to be more impatience & swerving on the highways... I went in the middle of the day (around noon) and it went really well! :blush:

I even managed to drive in the 70s range!!!!! which is a huge jump from the High of 46 mph I've been practicing at!

It really makes a difference WHO you're with in the car! My gf is super chill and calm and would correct me & advise me to switch lanes etc when I needed help!

She's even help me check out blind spots etc since she knew I was nervous. You need someone supportive by your side.

I WOULD NOT suggest going with a spouse b/c of the dynamic of marriages, it ain't going to be pretty (most of the time) :bonk:
