MOUNT VERNON -- A passerby rescued a woman after her SUV crashed through a fence and plunged about 30 feet onto suburban New York train tracks.

Metro-North railroad spokesman Dan Brucker ... says it's "astounding" that 20-year-old Stephanie Cacho survived. She was taken to a hospital.

Rohan Britton told 1010 WINS he saw "a lot of blood" when he leaped onto the tracks and pulled Cacho out of the sunroof of her mangled vehicle.

Police said the Mount Vernon woman had swerved to avoid a bicyclist on the street above the tracks. Brucker said the SUV narrowly missed electrified rails.

That's messed up.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I see the cycle haterz are out again today  But I don't care ;)

Where does it say what the cyclist was doing when the SUV driver took this 'evasive' action? I can't find any details at all. Glad the woman is ok though.

We'll have the last laugh

Look at us go when the internal combustion engine runs out of steam and the lardies in the SUV's will not have the energy to get up on a bicycle, let alone make it move!

Thinking the same thing...

In Florida, bicycles have almost the same rights & responsibilities as a motor vehicle, not that they ever bother to stop at stop signs or red lights. Still want to run over the rolling billboards that choose to ride their bikes on the busy highway during rush hour though. We have many bike lanes but the "Joe Jockstraps" still insist on pushing their luck with the big boys.

Nice fantasy you got there. Too bad it is dependent on an SUV driver not running you over with his/her SUV right before it "runs out of steam".
