I need some advise please. How long did it take you guys to get your SSN card. I went today and the rude woman behind the glass told me it could take 4 - 8wks.

do you have the receipt stating that you had apply? If so then try to go back in a couple of days to ask for a print out, hopefully you wont have the same lady next time and they'll be kind enough to print it out for you (be convincing on the fact that you need it sooner 'cause you want to work)

I have a question! I am trying to fill out the SSN form, and I am confused!!

My hubby is an overstay, we have not been approved for the I-130 or the I-485 yet. but he has an EAD card.. So is he legal or illegal? It says proof of immigration status ie I-94.. his is now expired

The Ead is good till next year, so what the hell do I check.. Legal and able to work?

UGGG.. I am so confused. Does he have to have a SSN right now, guess he better call his boss-to-be.

I even asked the evil woman and she says: How can I give you a number if you have never had one? I tried explaining to here that I heard of a SSN printout and she looked at me as if I was an alien.

No, I didn't get a receipt because on top of the long wait, her computer crashed!!! She said she will mail me my receipt. I give them until Monday and if I have not received my receipt, I'm going back.

What a waisted day, some days I TRULY dislike NYC... 4-8 wks is so ridiculous and to think we live in a computer age.

so um i started writing a whole letter than accidently erased th whole thing

the point is tht i am APPROVED! YES

so we got lost first becoz mr gps decided we reached our destination when in fact we werent, i finally got out n went to a staples store n asked them where it ws

* god knows i ws planning on suing the GPS COMPANY*

anyway once there we got in, my friend came ith me, we kind of waited for a bout 45 mns out int he lobby, seeing a lot couples get approved , lol they couldnt hide their happiness

anyway finally around 3 an older man clled me in, he ws joking around with other officers * n me being me i thought he ws gonna just as nice to me* ummm wrong

anyway so we go in the room and he sorta gives me a hint that i would be approved, or so i thought, then the questions came

is he in the army, do u know his parents, did they attend the wedding, does he have brothers, he has a sister, how old is she etc * btw i ws so nervous i didnt know my age nor his *

oh yeah first thing he asked me for ws my working permit n i 94

then he finally told me that i ws approved, after yelling the ###### out of me, for nt talking loud enough ( yo he screamed loud too)

he asked me if i had anymore question , i said no

so officer decided to make some jokes

im like uhhh lyk ding dong? he said clin!ton!

THEN HE ASKED " how du think the cats miaw in cuba" i said well im nt sure but im sure it has to do with castro

he *NOPE, THE CATS IN CUBA SAY MIAMIIIIII* LOL

agin nt funny morelyk omg ####### dat is so mean

then he said " a policeman catches a mexican crossing the border for the sond time, so he asks him, y did u bring two people n went back to bring one, the mexican said 5the sign says NO TRES-PASSING" LOL

dat one ws ffunny

he asked me if i will be travelling bck home, i said yeah n he stamped my passport

today is a good day, i finally fell sleepy i havent slept, i lost weight my heart beat abnormally for days

GOD is good thanx guys i wouldnt wanna share this road with anyone else

Krys, my receipt says 2 weeks. And the guy was kind enough to tell me that he'll give me a call if i already have a number. So i can go back there. Its been 3 days. Nothing still.

Anyway, If your I485 is approved. It also means the I130 is also approve right?

Ok ppl, let me help out...

Its better to wait until u get the physical GC to apply for the SSN. If u go and apply using ur EAD, they'll tell u to wait for verification thus the 2-4 week wait.

When u go with the GC or stamped passport, it'll take overnight for the system to update. Ya get the GC monday, go same day and u can return to SSA on tuesday to get the print-out of your number.

In your case, you should have been able to get the print-out tomorrow, unless they want tp see the card.
