Hello,

So we went to the interview, everything was ok with the papers, and they do believe our case, now we are put on mandatory additional processing, which will be sent to Washington DC to check on his name.

I just cannot believe what a system that my fiancé worked for 4.5 years with the American troops, and was a special linguist for the General of camp Falujha, yet they want additional processing, so how come they allowed him to work next to a top rank officer for 4.5 years!!!

I had been in tears since we left the embassy, and not in the mood to see Amman.

My flight is delayed for the return not sure why, but I will be home on 7th all alone.

Thank you all for your support..

Now I will take a rest and go hide..

Yours truly, Batta

Sorry that you'll be delayed for just a while longer, but some countries/Embassies now have mandatory AP for obvious reasons. I understand your frustration but the AP is now performed as one final check to make sure that people admitted to the USA are not a threat...

Recent events in that general area of the world have not helped - remember the "friendly and trusted" man who blew up the CIA compound, killing 7 CIA agents?

Hope your AP is over quickly.

I'm so sorry you didn't get the result you wanted. AP is pretty much for everyone. I hope your AP is quick and 'visa in hand' happens fast!

Did they give a time frame? They told my husband 6 months and they took 5 1/2 months.

My husband was a Jordan government employee for 15 years and his AP was much longer than we expected.

Be strong and know it will be over soon! good.gif Try to enjoy the rest of your time together.

Sister, do not be sad - you had a very positive interview. AP is common for all MENA peeps - it is basically a given. God willing, he shall be reunited with you in the states soon.

Batta,

I'm so sorry you're feeling so sad and I certainly do not want to tell you how to feel. But if you've been reading here about others' experiences throughout your journey, this was most likely to be expected. Please do not set yourself up for unnecessary grief. True there are a few lucky ones who get the visa in hand quickly, but it is not the general rule. This is normal and certainly no reason to cry. But of course I totally understand you feeling that way! There are so many worse things that could have happened in that interview. This is ok and you are one step closer to being with your SO. Keep your chin up and enjoy your time with him. Remember, him seeing you like that is going to make him feel terrible too. It will be over soon...

And_Sam..

Thanks for the link.. I did read it yet I still cannot understand the whole AP..

First of all, my finace is Christian, his name is all from Bible

He has been to the US more than 10 times in and out with no issue

He worked for the past 5 years with American troops inside a US base in Iraq and Passed 12 months of security clearance

He resigned his job at end of last year to come home because it was time..

He was involved in 5 operation to rescue American combat in Falujha

He has 50 honory letters from top generals

and all of the above and they still want an AP!!

So if he was still working at the base, it would be stuipd to put him on AP..

Imagine what a screwed up system we have in such a great country!

The mandatory AP has more to do with the embassy location than the individual, from what I've read. If it were not, then it would certainly be racial profiling. Whether Christian or Muslim, does not matter. It is the location. Honestly, that's pretty silly to me too because terrorism is everywhere, but that's just my opinion. If you have questions, you can call the embassy. I am afraid you are setting yourself up for unneeded pain and suffering from being angry. This is how it is in MENA countries so focus on what you CAN do. Control the controllables...you certainly cannot control the rules of the embassy so what can you do? Again, keep your chin up...you're one step closer.

I would also like to mention one other thing...when I read your post saying "so sad", I thought - Oh Lord, they've been denied. Which is your worst case scenario. You all weren't denied - just be cool and it will all be over soon.

Furthermore, you can have a very "Catholic"/Christian name like - Jesus Maria Belen and be put on AP. It doesn't matter at all.

Oh Gosh, I thought you were denied. I am sorry that your SO got AP, but like everyone else said...it is pretty typical and doesn't matter about the persons religion.

Hopefully your AP will be short. Please don't let this ruin your time with your husband. You will regret that later. All the time we have with our spouses is precious. Not to mention, Jordan is a great place to tour. I have been all over the country and love it. Please go site seeing and enjoy.

The good news is that he is approved and it is just a matter of clearing his name.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

Congrats on the approval Batta! I know the frustration you must be feeling. In our interview they told us it would take 2-3 weeks for our visa in hand and that we wouldn't have AP. Everyone else on VJ that had interviews that day at the American Embassy in Cairo, as there were 5 of us, all received their visas in this time frame they told us. Some in a matter of days. We however later discovered we had gotten the same mandatory AP that you were also given in the interview. It took 5 months, 1 week and 4 days of AP/AR for us to receive the visa in hand. It seems like a positive thing they were up front with you about AP so you'd know what to expect next. Though AP/AR is never a fun thing and is referred to the black hole of this process because you aren't given much information or a time when it will end. I wish that your SO may get their visa in hand soon. rose.gif
