Nor does it say we are required to pay taxes but we still do...

From the 16th Amendment:

"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

Nor does it say that we are required to pay for outrageous health care coverage for elected politicians... for life!! but we still do...

They are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) which was enacted on June 6, 1986. It's perfectly legal.

Nor does it say a lot of things that happen at the governmental levels...

Like what?

Yes it is, because without it, these people will cost us hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars, not thousands, in cost at the ER's across the country.

Not really. Insurance premiums aren't as reflective as you might think on this. Go pay cash in a hospital, THEN you will see who's really paying for it.

Also multiple people costing tens to hundreds of thousands = millions... don't be confused ;)

Social Security and Medicare force you to buy stuff? News to me!

No one forces you to buy Social Security or Medicare. These are government programs, not products. Forcing you to buy personal health insurance is an unconstitutional individual mandate, something that even the CBO recognized when responding to the Clinton administration's attempt at Hilarycare.

A mandate requiring all individuals to purchase health insurance would be an unprecedented form of federal action. The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States.

(Congressional Budget Office, The Budgetary Treatment of an Individual Mandate to Buy Health Insurance,1994.)

There is lots of flex in our governments founding concepts. Its not meant to be cast in stone. The Founding Fathers knew this and included words that could flex and move to cover changes in the future. Thats what makes it so nice.

See: 9th Amendment

See: 10th Amendment

See: 2/3 of both houses and acceptance by the states to pass Constitutional amendments.

I don't have health insurance, and pay for my medical care in cash. I'll be damned if I'm going to be forced to buy it or to be fined for not buying it. Screw the Dims!

Much like Obama, my gallstones hate:

  1. the usa
  2. the white race
  3. Christians
  4. the American flag
  5. the US healthcare system
  6. the US military
  7. US veterans
  8. the US Constitution
  9. apple pie and baseball I'm sure

I'm just glad my gallstone's have a foreign wife otherwise I would fear for her life. Why do they want to destroy the greatest country on earth?

If this were about insuring the uninsured it could have been done without destroying the system.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Technically yes, you are required to pay for Social Security and Medicare.

with the intent that later on, you'll get something from it. what am i supposed to get out of paying for someone else's health care?

Hold on there Bucko!!!

You were speaking of the Constitution! And the Declaration of Independence. These were the 2 documents you brought to the discussion. Not the Bill of Rights. Now you are changing the game rules here.

The new health care bill can be 'perfectly legal' if the congress wants it to be so.

The assurance you will get your own health care as granted by the same bill.

You might want to re-think that statement otherwise you will look foolish.
