Is it possible to get a job before receiving the EAD? We've already filed but waiting even 70 days is a lot. In order to get a job she needs an SSS card right? Is there any negative consequences of getting a job before receiving the EAD?

While it might be somehow possible, it isn't likely (and you shouldn't do it anyway). Most companies won't hire a person without the proper work-authorization. They're not supposed to anyway.

70-days would mean you're close to getting the EAD any day now. I doubt it will be that much longer. :star:

It is possible, but it is also a spectacularly BAD idea. The possible negative consequences are hefty fines and possibly criminal charges (particularly if fraudulent documents are involved) for both the employer and the employee.

K-1 holders are NOT work authorized unless they have one of the two following combinations of documents:

A ) a Social Security Card and a DHS Employment Authorization Card (EAD Card)

OR

B ) a Social Security Card and an DHS Alien Registration Card (Green Card).

Period. Full stop. End of story.

Frankly, you should be deeply suspicious (and mildly fearful) of any employer who would let you work under the table. It's just not worth it.

also can get a job in this case:

Although foreign nationals with an EAD can lawfully work in the United States for any employer, it is also possible for an alien to work for a specific US employer without EAD (examples are H-1B, L-1, or O-1 US visas)." more

is not a good idea that a K1 holder get a job without authorization (EAD)

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

My husband got a job within the first 90 days he was in the US because he had a work-authorization stamp in his passport and we had already gotten his SSN. He kept his job even after the 90 days was up, although it is unadvisable to do so. I would sit tight and wait for the EAD, chances are that it's next to impossible to get a dependable job without proof of work authorization anyway. Just because we got lucky and didn't get slammed for our mistake doesn't mean it's a good idea...:hehe:
