Hi everyone...

My husband is currently receiving payments from Unemployment since he lost his job just after I arrived in the US... is he able to claim that as income? We need a co-sponsor still... obviously... but I'm just wondering. It's better than putting '0.00' :(

Also, I only received the first shot of the Varicella (chicken pox) vaccine before my medical... there's a wait time of 1 month between shots and there was insufficient time for me to get the 2nd one. I was told that I wouldn't have to get the second one, and that the first one was sufficient and a 2nd one was just 'recommended'... but as I'm putting together my AOS papers, I'm seeing that it doesn't have a check under 'Completed Series'... it just has the date of the first shot, and checked under 'Insufficient time interval'. Am I going to have to get the 2nd shot now? Will they give me an RFE for this?

I'd have to get the vaccination records transcribed and signed by a civil surgeon if I got the 2nd shot... I've had my medical within a year, so I wasn't going to submit the I-693 (yes, I know about the RFEs recently)... But there isn't even a CS in my area.. the closest one is a 2 hour drive away. Not to mention now the hassle of scrambling to find a place to get the shot done. This is ridiculous.

Not quite sure what the "insuffienct time interval" means..i had both my mmr shots and td shots..doc signed off on it..yet it says that for one of mine as well. i asked about it but got not answers :(

From what i've been reading lately , most of the RFE's are due to Contract ppl who dont know the k1 rules and are giving out rfe's before a real uscis person gets the AOS. Did you n ever have chickenpox as a kid? for me a verbal declaration of that was fine.

sorry i can't give you any more info :(

Thanks Kimbear :)

I did not have chicken pox as a kid, and for the K-1 I got the titre test done and everything, and it showed I had to get the vaccine. :( That's why I got the first shot at least.

I saw a post about those RFEs... how frustrating! It's one thing to get an RFE if there's a legitimate mistake or documents missing, but for THAT reason (THEIR mistake) is just insane. I'll let you know what happens with mine. I think I've decided to just go ahead and file AOS as is. If they RFE me I can go and get the shot later. I've had so many delays with this already, I just want it sent. lol

Not quite sure what the "insuffienct time interval" means..

Basically, in cases such as when the HPV was required (it isn't now, it's just an example), there are 3 shots required for that given at day 0, 3months and 6months. They CANNOT and ARE NOT allowed to make you get them all before going to the US. SO, they will write down which ones you HAVE had and then that more are required but that there is "insufficient time" for them to give the others. It's acknowledging that there's SUPPOSED to be more than one, there's no other option for them to fill in otherwise.

So, when the person comes to the US, they HAVE to see a doctor to get the rest of the shots (or whatever is supposed to be done now) and then a CS to have it transcribed into the I-693.

So, OP, unfortunately for you, you do indeed need to see a CS to get the further shots. Here: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5901-Immunization.pdf page 2 is the table that says 2 doses are required. You will MOST DEFINITELY get an RFE if you send it as is because your immunisations are not complete.

I personally wouldn't wait. Depending on how long ago you had your medical, if you had it long enough ago that you get the RFE for the vaccines after the 1 year expiry then you will need to do the entire medical again because the immunisations weren't accepted (if they were the medical expiration clock is "stopped") so you run the risk of that.

I am 100% sure that you will get an RFE because of an incomplete immunisation history.

I only had my medical done in November, so it hasn't been that long. I'd rather send my stuff in immediately and deal with an RFE at this point, to be honest. It's going to take too much time to be able to get to a CS, and my I-94 will likely expire before I can get that all done. I'd prefer to send AOS before that happens. I need to get my EAD and AP sent in, and get those approved at least so I can start working.

Thanks for the info though.

Oh.. update... (sorry for double posting)... I looked originally at the civil surgeon list on the Wiki... which is why I thought the closest one was SO far away... but actually, there are 3 4 possibilities in my city! This is awesome :) MUCH better. Now I'm not so pissed about having to do this, and I will be able to get it done before I send AOS. Woot! Hopefully they don't rip me off. I will report on that later.

Very good that you found someone because you WILL NOT get your EAD while you wait for the RFE to be filled. You case is paused (all of it) until you resolve the RFE.

Grats! I did wonder where you were living if it was 2 hours away! I'm moving to remote Iowa and even I'm only an hour away from a CS.. :D

Well, we'll see... if they all expect me to get another FULL medical done and page another $250+ or whatever, then it's another story... but I'm hoping at least one of the four will be smart enough to realize I don't need another one.

Vanessa... do you mind if I ask where you got the examples of definitely needing the TWO doses (I know it's on the immunization sheet), but I'm getting conflicting information. Someone else said a CS told them that getting the 1st dose is sufficient.

Also, do you have examples showing that EADs and APs are held up with an AOS RFE? I also am getting conflicting info about that, and people saying that EAD and AP can still be approved even if the AOS has an RFE.

Sure. The immunisation list is directly from the CDC where you get the Civil surgeon details. Here's the link page: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/default.htm you can see adult schedule in the list.

Here are the technical instructions for civil surgeons: http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/technical-instructions-civil-surgeons.html you'll need to scroll down to the vaccine instructions but they don't mention the number of shots, but as the instructions are from the CDC so are the shot requirements.

Also, I think the CS told them the first dose is sufficient if we're dealing with the "insufficient time" issue so the 1st dose given by the CS. Because you've already had the first dose and are due for the second, you will need the second.

Also, do you have examples showing that EADs and APs are held up with an AOS RFE? I also am getting conflicting info about that, and people saying that EAD and AP can still be approved even if the AOS has an RFE.

Here's some old posts on it:

From everything I've found while it does pause processing, it's negligible as long as you respond to the RFE ASAP.
