Okay, so it sounds silly, but I'm really looking forward to going to the supermarket by myself for the first time. This is because Yuri always makes me only go to the isles which have the food on our list so I don't get to wander down all the isles to discover the interesting / weird / yummy / gross different food available here.

What about other people?

I was most looking forward to driving down the highway with my windows open. Sounds silly, but having no driving experience and being nervous about my newcomer status, it seems like such a high-point, knowing what I'm doing, where I'm doing, feeling comfortable and happy. I've yet to experience that, but I'm nearly there! :D

There is a little restaurant, it's more like a take-away shop but...

It sells steack sandwichs, the regular phily steack sandwich.

For me that place smells like america like no other. :x

I want to get a jumbo steack sandwich and sit there for hours.

I also want to take my time (hours) in the supermarket to fully investigate every single product. :)

But really, the steack sandwich first. :hehe:

Love it! In Indy, where I'll be there's a small chain (2 I think) called Yats which sounds like your place EasternDE. I love Yats - it's Creole I think. That's the first place I always make Yuri take me to eat when I arrive. I'm looking forward to that too

When I go back again, hopefully by May, I can't wait to visit Ithaca, NY as it is the most beautiful place on earth in the summer.

Also, I will eat 2 pounds of buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese.

And fries with cheese and gravy at a diner!

Yum!

And grocery shopping at Wegman's!

And book shopping at Borders!

First and foremost i cant wait to get back to my fiance.. after that Im with you sachinky.. hmmm buffalo chicken wings and a pint of yuengling..

I cant wait to get back out hunting too, I know its not everyones cup of tea, but i love being out in the woods with my bow..

I cant wait to get back on the kayak to explore the rivers and lakes and i cant wait to get my giant pumpkins growing..

I lived there already for over a year so it wont be as much of a massive shock to the system as it might for those who have only visitied.

There is so much i miss but most of all i just want to cuddle my finace, i might not let go for a week.. so all the other stuff will have to wait a while (especially hunting which i have to wait until fall but i can be out practicing until then.

I'm also looking forward to roaming the isles of supermarkets to find what is (and isn't) available...and where the heck in the stores to find things. The last few times I visited Tim, I had the hardest time locating ingredients for recipes I've been making for years. I'm so used to just going into the store, going straight to isle 4 for Worchestershire sauce for example, and being out through the checkout within minutes. I suppose because of different brands and labelling in the States, I won't be able to find items anymore simply by what they look like.

One store I was in a few times with Tim had the BEST bakery section ever! Pies, cakes, tarts, breads, pastries, cheesecakes.....(omg I need to eat breakfast soon. lol) I'll be going there alot!

And there's alot of Mexican stuff on the shelves, and I LOVE Mexican food. So I'm hoping to learn how to cook some "authentic" dishes that just can't be duplicated in so-called Mexican restaurants I've been to in Canada.

I'm also going to haunt all the thrift stores I can find, as well as Hobby Lobby!

But mostly I guess I'm just looking forward to getting back to where I consider "home" now, and being with Tim. :)

What is Hobby Lobby, Erin?

A pretty huge chain of stores that sell hobby-related equipment.

You can find in it pretty much anything you can imagine - scrapbooking supplies, photo albums, paint, canvas, beads of all kinds, plaster and everything else for sculpting, garden decoration, holiday decoration, party supplies.... It's not open on Sundays because the owner is rather religious.

It's just anything but cheap. There's another chain (in our area at least) - Michael's. Also not cheap, of course.

Hobby Lobby? Well, let's just say that the first time I stepped foot into that place my mouth dropped open. Tim said "Shall I just leave and come pick you up later on tonight?" :P I'm not particularly "crafty" but that place sure is inspirational.

Check it out:Hobby Lobby

Oh Yuengling! It's my favorite and I missed it a lot when I was living in Ireland. Too bad my Irish fiance doesn't care for it. He's a fan of stout (predictable!) so hopefully we can find a good place for him to get that here.

I would be surprised if yuengling doesnt do a stout, but if they dont there are so many mirco breweries in that area of PA that im sure you will find something.
