I'm trying to think up a few newish meals for my husband to try. But he's not really a fan of what I cook for myself. So I need ideas. What do you manly men like to eat? (Or what does your manly man like to eat?)

Well, he definitely drinks enough beer. ;)

He's not going to eat okra and I make red beans & rice quite a bit, but it's "too mushy" for him.

I'd like to do a chicken fried steak but I'm a little nervous...I've been a vegetarian since I was nine. I'm okay with very simple meat dishes where I can taste stuff before it goes on the meat...but yeah :P

Did you ask him what he likes most?

What does he usually order whenever you go to a restaurant?

You don't have to cook exactly the same dishes as what he gets from the restaurant but that tells you the type of food he enjoys.

My husband likes spicy food but everything has to be cooked the healthy way (no frying, no bacon, etc.) His favorite among all dishes that I've served is chicken curry (cooked the Filipino way but I added my personal touch).

Do you know of a healthy way to cook meat in a pan without using oil? A way that will still give it the searing that oil gives it, but without the carcinogens? :)

If we are talking breakfast a large stack of flatjacks with bacon or pork sausages on the side.

If we are talking lunch or supper, meat and potatoes, real men don't care what kind of meat nor what kind of potatoes, but none of that sissy stuff. Also lots of hot fresh baked rolls. Also enjoy a huge plate of french fried breaded haddock, but make sure that bread coating is thin. Oh, and french fried potatoes.

If your man is a wife or a mom pleaser, will also eat is vegetables or a large green salad. We were brought up from day one to eat our vegetables.

I could live and die just eating Mexican food. You can cook a small enough roast in a crock pot to make the tender, shredded beef that can be used for tacos and burritos. Refrigerate the leftovers and he can eat it throughout the week. :)

 It's hard to find a restaurant that serves real maple syrup...best to BYOB.

Yeah. A reason I don't order pancakes out much.

I like good blue cheese with my wings too. A local place has good wings but horrible blue cheese dressing so I bring my own. They're cool with it.

I am not an expert, Steve (disclaimer  ). Anyway, everytime I brown pork, I only use one tablespoon of olive oil. That does it. The same goes for chicken. In the Philippines, we fry pork chop and drumsticks and when they are done, we eat them with rice (I don't do that here). The common Filipino dip is soy sauce mixed with either vinegar or calamansi.

In this house, we don't eat plain meat. Most of the recipes I cook require step one to saute garlic, onion, and ginger. After that, I have to move aside all three then brown the meat in the same pan where the garlic, ginger, and onion are (without mixing the meat and those three of course). Chicken gets juicy fast so no need to put more oil while pork produces its own oil that's why very minimal oil is necessary for it.

I cooked "Bicol Express" last night using pork. I bought one pound of red Jalapeno peppers thinking it would be hot enough.

Here are the pics I took:

The third one is the "finished product."
