I know it's fashionable to slam tech support outsourced to India, but I've found it's been an improvement. Instead of getting some Lurleen Lumpkin from Cooterville, AL getting paid minimum wage who just started last week and is ready to quit today, you get a courteous and grateful person who's happy to have that crappy job. AmEx uses Indians and they're quite pleasant to deal with and get things taken care of quickly.

Now, when they call me to sell me something, that's another story. I've always hated telemarketers and they get the same treatment the "insourced" ones received. Although not as bad as that BT call.

in my opinion, of the many issues with outsource helpdesk to india or any other country is the language barrier. If those boyz and girls can speak crystal clear english. Thats it. You dont need ONE helpdesk center in America. All they have to do is learn to speak good american accent not the british accent(cause they alread speak in that tone mixed with their own accent).

Of course product knowledge cannot be ruled out, as that is a given for all helpdesk. American customers want service done right and they are willing to pay a higher price for good service, they dont want no bull ######.
