Hello, Everyone.

Just brought in my fiancee yesterday :)

Now, we're getting ready for the next step which would be wedding and adjustment of status.

I started reading about the guides and probably missed some information here regarding the I-693.

Hoping you guys can help me out. :)

"I-693, .... If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. Regardless of if you are exempt from a medical exam, you are still required to complete certain portions of the I-693 and have a Civil Surgeon certify the form (and seal it in an evelope). Specifically, you will complete Part 1 (Information about you) of the I-693 and provide both the form and your DS-3025 (if you have it, proving your vaccination history) and any proof of required vaccinations that were completed prior to entering the US. If you do not have a copy of your DS-3025 ....They will then seal the form in an envelope and return it to you. "

Okay, here are my questions:

1. My fiancee did her vaccination and medical exam in December, 2009. However, the result / proof of her being vaccinated was not given to her. It was sealed in envelope and forwarded to the Consulate, and it was not returned. So what do I have as a proof to provide the Civil Surgeon that she had completed the vaccination?

2. I know that we have to get married within 90 days upon her arrival, and we're getting married on March 20, 2010. Is the last day to file for adjustment of status is 90 days from her arrival also?

Thank you.

Congratulations on bringing your fiancee here :)

Maybe you need a vaccination record faxed from Indonesia where the medical was done.

Did you have any vaccination records going into the medical overseas? At the very least, copies of those would help avoid needing every single vaccination again. But of course I have no idea what worldwide vaccination practices are...

In Canada they gave us a separate sheet clipped to the outside of the sealed envelope. The civil surgeon accepted this as proof of vaccination.

I know that we have to get married within 90 days upon her arrival, and we're getting married on March 20, 2010. Is the last day to file for adjustment of status is 90 days from her arrival also?

There is a debate on here about this, but my personal opinion is, get it in AS SOON AS you can, even if AS SOON AS is after your I-94 expiry date. If I hadn't lost my job shortly after our NOA-2, I would've filed our AOS the day after we got married (in July), but unemployment made it impossible to file until this month (February).

That said, the WRONG way to approach AOS is to sit on it just because you (not you personally, the general "you") think you can. Don't do that. If you can get it in with no problem, you should do it within the 90 days. It makes life so much easier to just have it done.

I never want to give anyone the impression that AOS is an "I'll get to it whenever" scenario. That I-94 expiry date is there for a reason, and every day that my wonderful, precious husband John was Out of Status, I died a little inside.

Good luck and happy wedding!
