Hi to all!

I am a permanent resident since Feb. 23, 2007. I know I can apply for citizenship 90days before Feb. 2010 but I didn't start getting all my documents ready until now. Also, I WAS a volunteer in our hospital here in town. My questions are:

1. can I still send my N-400 even after Feb. 2010?

2. Should I write my volunteer job in Part 10 B.8 (affiliations) or in Part 6 B (employment)? Thought I should write it on part 10 but not sure.

Thanks in advance for all the inputs. god bless all.

There's no date you have to file citizenship by.

It's your choice if you want to file for it, some people stay permanent residents for the rest of the time they're in the US.

You're free to file whenever you're eligible.

Unlike with ROC, the 90 days it just telling you that THAT'S when you're eligible. You can apply in 10 years, 20 years, or never . it's completely up to you.

As your 90 day window has now passed, nothing has really changed except now you know that you can apply tomorrow if you want (or right this second) because the "can't apply before this date" date has passed. If that makes sense...

It's like saying you can't get a drivers licence till you're 18 and once you're older than 18 then you can apply whenever you want... so.. congrats! And good luck :D

Like others said, the 90 window is more of a restriction on when you can apply and not a deadline. If you apply before that, then they will not accept your application. However, if you send it anytime after that, you should be fine. As long as you are a LPR and you satisfy the "continuous residency" restriction when you apply for citizenship, then you are good to go.

As for the volunteering job, is it your only job? not too familiar with your situation, but my guess is that if you get a W2 from that hospital (even though the amount is 0 income) then you should list it under Part 6 B.

THANKS everyone! It is a big relief to me that I don't need to rush and submit my application.

to v33k, I don't have a job (paid job) since I got here, I just do volunteering. I don't get paid or get W2 from the hospital where I volunteer. now, i'm wondering if i should write it (my volunteer) down on the part 10 B.8 (affiliations) or Not?

You can also request a letter from the hospital to show that you have been working with them as a volunteer for the past xx years/months...
