hi,

Just wanted to share my interview experience with you all.

We were scheduled yesterday at 10:45. We arrived at 10:30 and had to go through metal detector, then gave interview letter and our ID's to the officer.

After waiting for 15 minutes we got called for our interview.

Our officer's last name was something like Lambrecht?? A guy of around 35.

Anyway, he swore us in then went through the application and asked Brian my birthdate and where I was born, then he did the same for me.

Then he did the usual checklist of questions.. Are you a terrorist etc..

After that he asked for any evidence that we had brought. We showed him our wedding book, voided check for our joint account, letters from the bank showing that we are approved for a mortgage and are under contract for a house together. Also a cell phone statement showing we are on a family plan together and plane tickets showing vacations together and our wedding rings receipt.

Apart from that we didnt really have to much else since I dont have any health insurance yet etc etc. I had photos ready to show him but he didnt want to see those.

He asked a few more questions about how we met, if our parents approve or not, and then which I know is their job, but it felt kind of rude, very insulting, right in front of me he was asking Brian if he was sure I married him for love and not for a green card. Obviously he said it is for love and he seemed satisfied.

Anyway, we were in there for 20mins and then he said you are approved, you should receive your green card in the next few weeks and also told me about removing conditions.

That was it!!

Now am just waiting for the card to arrive without any mistakes (hopefully).

Its such a relief now that its over. I was really nervous but it was for nothing really.

Good luck to everyone who has theirs coming up. :D

Congrats:

I think he is the same guy who interviewed us - don't take offense at his question about marriage for green card - he asked us too and I understand that - that is his job (just the same as asking questions about being a prostitute etc.) I liked him, he was professional and we sailed through also. Hope you get your card in couple weeks (it took us 5 weeks - we had to go for biometrics the same day.)

Yeh, he was a nice guy. Professional as you said, and actually had a personality and looked at us when we spoke unlike others that people on here have experienced.

I also just wanted to add a big thanks to everyone on here for answering questions and posting advice and experiences. It has been such a huge help and I couldnt have done it without VJ.

Yeh, he was a nice guy. Professional as you said, and actually had a personality and looked at us when we spoke unlike others that people on here have experienced.

Yep its the same guy - he had a feminine sounding name - Pat (Patrick) or something like that. As I said before, our biometrics were done the same day (they had been scheduled originally for a few weeks after the interview and our interviewer ordered them the same day - we took the biometrics order to the office and got it done.) So, we didn't receive the welcome letter/email till the two or three days before the green card arrived. Good Luck

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello All,

I am literally shocked at how fast i got my green card. I sent out all my papers on april 17th of this year. In the first week of june, i got a letter from INS asking me to come for an interview on july 28th. In less than two months of applying i got an interview letter. Anyway, so on july 28th i went to the interview with my wife and our lawyer. We were asked the usual questions such as: my birthdate, my ssn, our wedding photos also i had lost my passport so i didnt have mine with me and IO didn't care because i guess they dont stamp it anyway. The whole interview lasted 7 minutes. Then she started putting my information in her computer and told me that i should receive my GC within 30 days.

My FBI name check and background checks had already come in and according to the IO, they were perfect. So, i guess i got lucky that my name check was done before my interview because i have been reading on these forums that people are waiting for their name checks to get done. I wish good luck to all those people. Hang in there yours will be done soon.

So, on august the 3rd i got my welcome to U.S letter which was literally after 4 business days after my interview. Yesterday august 7th i received my green card in the mail which is exactly 6 business days after my interview, that is really a shocker to me. All in all i got my green card in a total of 4 months since i applied, i am very happy because i thought it was going to take at least 6 months before i have my GC but kudos to INS, they are doing very well nowadays in processing applications except FBI name checks.

Thanks.
