My fiance recieved her visa yesterday :dance: When she took out her passport so she can attended the consuling session she noticed 2 differant tears possible cuts in the Do Not Open envelope. There is a approximately a 1" tear or cut on the side and about a 1/2" to 1" tear or cut on the top. Are these normal or is it something she needs to go back to the embassy for and have them reseal the envelope? She is worried because she does not want to have any problems when she comes here to America at her POE. I have seen a few discussions on the subject but wish to be positive so she can have peace of mind. She has had no problems up till now and we wish to make sure it stays that way. Thanks in advance for any and all replies. God Bless.

I would say if you have the time and can get to the embassy before your POE I would take it in and ask them to look at it. You do not want to take a chance once your in the states.

If she has the time go ahead and have them at the embassy look at it. Our envelope had small openings like you describe which we discovered in the waiting area for our flight to the USA! The USCIS at LAX did not look twice and just ripped the envelope open.........no problems. I would guess little (key word LITTLE) tears and rips are considered normal wear and tear and as long as no deliberate tempering is noticed then it is OK. Have her get a bigger envelope at a store to keep the embassy packet in until the POE to reduce the wear and tear.........

Congrats!

As stated above - the envelope will have a small portion of one corner cut off - I believe it is so (if necessary) airport/security could inspect the contents without opening it.

It is normal.

Glad to hear that these are normal. We did not have this on our envelope. I remember being nervous about damaging it in any way. Good Luck sounds like you can relax...unless you think they look excessive.
