yeah.. I remember "freedom Fries" too... i laughed so loud at the waiter "correcting" me on my order he had to be replaced. Then got in an argument with another jacka$$ who thought I was "unpatriotic" for disagreeing with the change.

Well, the chances of Iran actually keeping a successful (two terms of 5+ years) democratic government is practically nil. On the whole, you can historically say that Muslim countries had:

• three attempts (Egypt 1954; Pakistan 1947-1951, 1970) with FOUR failures (Egypt--again 1954; Pakistan 1951, 1971; Bangladesh 1975--as this stemmed from Pakistan's 1970 attempt) if one does not include Iran's nationalistic PM Mousadegh who was deposed at behest of Ike and Winston
  
• Four attempts (the three above plus Mousadegh) FIVE failures if you include Mousadegh (AND speculate that democracy would have continued under him)
  

US and Britain have themselves to blame for Nejad's rantings--had they not removed Mousadegh, Khomeini would NOT have been able to take over (lacking a point to capitalise on) and Nejad would NOT have even been in the picture. As to whether Mousadegh would have continued democracy--well, he was no Mujibur Rehman.
