Welcome to VJ. It is a very helpful website.

If you have not filed anything yet then you would want to file for the I-130 (Petition for alien relative), I-485 (Adjustment of Status), and I-765 (Application for employment) because you are here on a B2 visa. These forms can be filed concurrently, which is faster than being filed separately. You can download the I-130, I-485, and I-765 forms online by clicking "downloads" here on VJ or visit the immigration website at www.bcis.gov. You than want to prepare all the documents needed for all of the forms, which can be take a while to do. You will need to send these forms together to the Chicago lockbox. If you need help with the forms, please feel free to contact me. :D

I have gone through the same experience

I did not do things that way, so I can't tell you any real details, but I think you will be alright. A lot of people get married after having entered the country in another way. As long as you did not come to the country intending to get married and immigrate here, then you did not break any rules by having a different visa. Like I said, this is not the way my husband and I did things, so you should wait for someone with more experience to tell you about any problems that may come up for you.

It all depends on the county (where the court is located.) We got married in Orlando and it took about 4 weeks to receive the certificates (its a good idea to get two or three - they were only $2.50 a piece in Orlando.) It just gives you more time to get the paper work done and you can double check it a few times. Good Luck

I was in similar situation.

I came to US on tourist visa, and did the same thing you are doing now, got married and filed all these forms together, and recently got approved.

As long as you didn't enter on tourist visa with intent of marriage you are fine - a lot of people adjust their status from tourist visas.

Read this forum (it's very helpful) and download all the forms, read carefully instructions and info on official website, and feel free to ask. We all went through the same.

Good luck.
