A British version of Monopoly released this week ditches the Cash for a Visa imprinted Debit Card.

This version lets players type amounts into a palm sized scanner and pass their debit cards though the device.

Hasbro is considering a change here too.

Monopoly was first sold in 1935 during the Depression which gave players an escape from Financial woes and let them dream of being Real Estate moguls.

The techie version will be much neater without all the cash, but will it be fun?

Don't think I'll like it; I have to calculate ACTUAL 10% instead of truncated (which I use for American version; for British version, I handwrote "10% or" into the income tax square to make it similar but left the other "super-tax" square as-is--then calculate 10% as with American version). :lol: :lol: :lol:

One of my prized possessions is the Monopoly game my Dad got for Christmas when he was 10. We played it for hours as children, until the money was curling and the paint on the wooden pieces faded.

I somehow don't think the new version will replace it for me. ;)

Latest steps:

10/26/2006- Consulate receives case (seriously, one month to receive the case?? BS!), and packet 3 that I sent even before they had received the case.

01/02/2007- Interview!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got a 221(g)

01/23/2007- Second Interview. VISA granted!!!

01/29/2007- VISA arrived.... no envelope though. I'm gonna contact them and see what happened this time!

01/31/2007- I'll have to send them one last financial support evidence.

02/01/2007- Evidence sent

02/02/2007- Evidence received by Consulate

02/06/2007- Consulate sends envelope!

02/07/2007- Envelope received!!!

02/10/2007- Flew to the USA!!!!!!

04/17/2007- Wedding day!!!

'Money' is merely a medium of exchange.

A British version of Monopoly released this week ditches the salt for cash (printed in different denominations).

This version lets players utilize printed money.

Hasbro is considering a change here too.

The techie version will be much neater without all the salt, but will it be fun?
