Hi,

I know I left it to the last min but I'm going this afternoon to have my finger prints done and last week when I called the Australian police they asked me if I was having just thumbs, fingers or palm prints? I thought it was fingers and thumbs, is this right?

Also I have to send a set over to Canada because I lived there of a while, I called Canada this morning and they said to just send a cover letter and the address I want it returned too with the prints. Do I need to put my passport number or work visa number on there?

Thank you

The Adjustment of Status biometrics process takes all fingers and thumbs, but not palms. so that's all the FBI need for background checks. As for the other countries police departments, I haven't the foggiest idea. You might want to check inthe Australian Regional forum. The people there are more likely to have gone through the same process you are. Failing that, you'll probably have to call the police departments in question directly.

The person you spoke to has no idea. When you have your prints taken they will print your fingers separately, then all four of each hand together, thumbs, palms, and side of your hands. It's just the way it's done in Australia. It's just a regular National Police check using fingerprints.
