So our petition has been approved. I saw on the uscis page. Does this mean I do not need an interview? Or is it compulsory? Or are they just saying our documents are approved?

Also, do I need a medical before I venture off or when I apply for residency?

To answer your questions directly, your PETITION to APPLY has been approved. Your fiance petitioned the US government for permission to apply for a visa for you. Now the government has said "okay, we'll let you apply and send you lots more documents and have you spend more money". They will email you (your fiance probably 'cause he put his details on the paperwork.. I know my husband (fiance then) got mine) packet 3 information from the consulate. (Sydney consulate too, all interviews are there)

You will need to get a police check for every country you've lived in (except US) for more than 6 months. You will need a medical (around $300, usually more, not always much less) and also have vaccinations (the doc will tell you what you need) so you will need to take any records you have showing your current immunisations, or if you can't find that, have a blood titre done at your doctors office. You will also need to complete a fair few forms (info in threads below), pay the US visa fee (after you have your interview approval, that's after the medical etc), get your fiance to complete an Affidavit of support including sending you info on his income, assets, tax records etc (form I-134).

You can also read these threads for more info:

- http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=183541 (Aussie people chatting/advice)

Sorry, just the beginning! On the up side, you are past the majority of waiting time (NOA1 to NOA2 is the LONG wait). Once you get all the medicals, forms etc sent in they will email you your interview date, it'll be around 1 month (probably less) from when they receive your P3 paperwork.

The guides will explain it (so will the threads above).

Good luck!

**Edit - you will also need to see the doctor AGAIN when you get to the US to apply for AOS. They will make sure you have all the necessary immunisations for AOS and transcribe your vaccination details into the form I-693 for (hopefully) a nominal fee (usually around $50, sometimes more, sometimes less).

After the age of 16.

Start working immediately on the I-134 (the affidavit of support). He will have to be earning 125% of the poverty for him, you and any other dependents he may have. If he does not meet these requirements, you will need a co-sponsor, which is someone who does meet them.

He should send you a copy of everything he sent in with the I-129F, plus a copy of the NOA2 you received.

Timeline Summary:

K-1/K-2 NOA1 - POE: 9 February - 9 July 2010

Married: 17 July 2010

AOS mailed - Interview : 22 November 2010 - 10 March 2011

ROC mailed - approved: 14 February - 18 June 2013

Citizenship mailed - ceremony: 9 February - 7 June 2017

Did he keep the originals of all of your proof that you've met in the last 2 years/that you're in a relationship? If so you should be ok - it's easy enough to recreate the other forms since you should know all the answers on them, and you shouldn't be asked for that stuff anyway - they already will have it at the consulate.

They WILL need to see proof that you are in an ongoing relationship (pictures of the 2 of you together, emails, letters, phone records, etc. If you read through posts on this board you will find lots of examples of things you can use.) Start gathering all of that now & for heaven's sake make copies this time :)
