I am not really posting this for anything in particular, its just I feel the need to vent a little.... so last Monday I had my oath ceremony! Yay, good start to the week!! I am finally a US Citizen etc etc. Tuesday my boss hints that I may be losing my job, Wednesday it is confirmed, I am losing my job. I also keep tropical fish, so on Saturday I noticed my biggest Angelfish is sick, shortly afterwards he passes away.

Now, I realize the fish is somewhat minor compared to my job, but it still sucked. I had him from about quarter sized body to a body size of almost 5 inches.

Work on the other hand really stinks, I am applying for plenty of jobs, but so far having no luck (I realize its only been a week). But I am worried for my family, house, car etc. What really annoys me is I only lost my job as part of "cost cutting" my job is in fact still there, I am on a months transition period, but am getting calls at 9pm to help out with work, and when I leave, no one on the department has the same level of experience that I do. It is also frustrating as during the meeting where I and several others were told we were losing our jobs, that for some of us our transition period would be longer while they looked to hire someone offshore. Gee thanks.

Sorry, I am not complaining, well OK I am, I keep telling myself my family are healthy, if the worst comes to the worst and we do have to sell our house its not the end of the world etc but it is so stressful, frustrating, worrying not knowing exactly when or where my next pay check is going to come from. The last time I was not working was shortly after I left college almost 13 years ago.

I am sure there are plenty of others who have been through the same thing, and hopefully when I do find a new job it will be better pay or closer to home, but for now I am slowly going crazy.

Thanks for reading!

Threats of layoffs are constant at my wife's place of employment, we could buy a new car, but why? May need that money to buy food, we are debt free, but took a awhile to get there, but not home free, can lose our home if we can't afford the taxes on it. It's a constant threat.

Son was telling me he could have purchased his new home today for 20% than he paid for it two years ago, the problem in not having a good crystal ball, this recession as they called it has hurt a lot of people. He somehow got on the board of his new church and school, they are realing hurting. We kicked around the numbers on him refinancing his home, but the closing cost and the deed transfer for the lean runs into big bucks. Just sit tight and see what happens, but do any of us have a say in this mess?

Now that is really what the major problem is, not having a say and what in the hell do we have representatives for and who in the hell are they representing? Not us.

We also came to the conclusion that what we think we own, is as only as good as our government, now that is a scary thought. It's their records and they control the buck.

We are far better off than our relatives and friends in Venezuela, but they don't have a say either.

Just be thankful you are still alive. Anything else is just trivial. Trust me on this one.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Oh, I gave up on an aquarium a long time ago, if the slightest thing goes wrong, like your home heating thermostat decides to go a bit crazy, come home to a tank full of dead fish.

I have tank heaters if it gets cold, so should be fine there, and things would have to go pretty crazy for the temps to get above 90F in the tanks where it would start killing fish. Now that I said that I will probably get home to a tank full of dead fish!!

In a month from now you will read this and laugh. Keep up the good fight!

Thanks, that's what I am hoping. I think I have managed to already get through the depressed at losing my job phase. Now just putting all my effort into finding something new.

Congrats on becoming a US Citizen

Thanks.

And thanks for all the other replies and positive thoughts.
