AOS Interview - Original Birth Certificate?

I already sent an original birth certificate and translation with our AOS application, do I really need to bring one to the interview as well? Please advise!

Did they ask for the original for the AOS? The instructions say always send copies unless they ask for the original(s). Usually you send the copy with the AOS, and take the original to the interview.

If you have the original or certified copy take that to the interview because they may ask for it.

If you don't have the original anymore, I guess all you can do is take a copy to the interview. Hopefully they will have the original in the file.

Why? The instructions are quite implicit that the USCIS does not routinely require "original" documents to be submitted as evidence (unless specifically asked for) and regular photocopies are sufficient. Never give up an original.

It is likely that the letter you received is a "canned" letter with all the standard document requests without any customization for your case. You could arrive without it and explain the one they have is "original."
