Awwwww! hey thanks you guys!!! I turned 40 yesterday! Holy #######! I want to say, I had possibly the best birthday I have ever had. My husband spoiled me like I have never been spoiled. He "left for work" and then showed up about an hour or so after and kidnapped me and took me for pancakes and house hunting and he got all the work on my car done that I needed and got it plated and registered and everything . Seriously? amazing. Then he dropped me off at my sister in law's and we had ice cream and hung out and then I came home and he and my step daughter and I went out for a lovely dinner and came home and opened up the gifts they got me. One of which was a full-sized authentic Canadian flag.

Thanks for your well wishes and I had a perfect milestone birthday here in the US of A with my lovely family.

:)

BTW Happy Birthday to LGG :)

May I present to you...

Gneal the Gnome! On another note, I picked SO much arugula lettuce today that I think I'm going to make an arugula pesto with it. I think it's gonna rock. :D

No Dairy Queen here either, only one in AR and that one is about 20miles away from us. :(

OH I get to go to Big Lots this Sat yay I can't wait to check it out.

I don't know if there's a Dairy Queen around here, but Yvonne loves her Abbott's, so it's all good. :D

OMG. Poor Gneal is being held captive by a giant net! We need to start a Save-The-Gnome fund!! crying.gif

Happy belated birthday, LGG! What an awesome day.

I have been told by a few different people in the US that they like my accent. I'm like.... what accent? LOL

Good news! My cousin called to cancel my help with the packing. Bad news for them, though. It sounded like they were fighting. :(

Trailmix, I SO would have helped you pack. That was funny.

Yea, Im not even there yet (PoE June 30) and Im sure the money is gonna make me miss our bills with colour.

No interac makes me grumpy too, I so rarely carry cash here.

Maybe I should just bring a few boxes of Coffee Crisp and Mr. Big, It would be like having cigarettes to trade in a jail Im betting laughing.gif

They have debit cards here as well

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

They have debit cards here as well

I worked for a company that wrote transaction software for the US Credit and Debit systems, unless its changed, at the time, all Debit cards were a dual use Credit/Debit card. You could only tie one account to your debit card, not all the accounts you like, and it was a special Debit account, higher fees, zero interest. Also the ubiquity of the debit system down there cant even touch the penetration of interac. Its similar yes, but nowhere near the same :(
