I've heard that some people are asked about when the wedding with be, during the K1 interview. If you have a date planned (hoped for) should you mention it, or just say as soon as we get the visa?? Whats everyones opinion around this...it seems like little things are getting denials in Casathese days...or for no reason at all.

I was told to put a date in the "intent letter", so they know you're serious about getting married (even if no plans are actually made). I was also told it's a good idea to get a letter from an officiant (of whatever sort you'd want to use - religious or not), showing that you contacted him (or her). We also ordered engraved wedding bands, and he took the receipt and pictures of them to his interview. ANYTHING that shows that you're really serious is going to help. Sometimes I've almost felt like I was in an episode of Law & Order, trying to prove my innocence against an allegation of marriage fraud or something!

Best of luck!

I would mention that it depends on when the visa is received but you're hoping for a _____ wedding (insert spring, or summer or whatever the closest season is)

That's what we did. We wrote in our first intent letter we would like to get married in winter around Christmas time. But since my interview was placed on Dec. 13th and we knew there was no way for me to make it to the US around Christmas, we wrote in our updated letters of intent that we were hoping to get married around Christmas time, but since the visa process took longer than we expected we are planning to get married shortly after I arrive in the US and are planning a wedding on our next anniversary...

So, it's up to you to decide...but I don't think it's wise to put a date since the CO will probably ask your SO at the interview if you have made any special plans for that date.

Good luck!

We took a letter from my priest showing that I had already spoke to him about marrying in the Church at our parish. We also had our engraved wedding bands that my DH/fiance at the time had bought for us in Argentina.:thumbs:

The word in MENA at the tiime was to have a planned date in mind for both the interview and the border patrol. We put our planned date along with print outs from the place we planned to honeymoon with the petition, and then we had a fairly firm date when he entered the US.

Venusfire: sadly you ARE trying to prove that. But I liked the way you put it.
