I paid that $125 ticket because the letter referred me to a website where I could actually watch the video of this infraction... I clearly did not come to a complete stop at a red light before turning right, even though there was no traffic in sight, Anywhere, even though I knew I was no threat to anyone on the road at that moment, the law is clear, so I didn't think I had grounds to appeal the fine... also I didn't know anything about the system here and how it works as this was my first ever traffic ticket and I thought I'll just pay it and get it over with...

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, annually nearly 2 million crashes occur in intersections. In 2005, red light running resulted in 800 fatalities and over 165,000 injuries.

It is believed that an automated red light camera program will reduce the number of red light crashes and injuries associated with such crashes. The purpose of this program is to increase traffic safety in the City of Miami Gardens. What is a red light running violation?

I'm not sure about that, but I do think it was unfair because my eyes work just fine and I saw that there was no traffic around, Anywhere and didn't think I was putting anyone in danger. But the law is clear... stop at red light before making right turn... so after having to pay that huge fine that's what I do now... when before I probably didn't every time.. so they have a point, it does work in changing the behaviour of drivers, is $125 a bit of a stiff fine for what I did? hell yes !

@ myself. I am totally biased in favour of learning to drive a manual transmission as a means to becoming a better driver. I can't prove that it makes you a better driver, I just believe it's true
