Hey everyone, we're back from Vegas. Happily married, a day late, they lost our luggage! But we did get it back, we just had to push the wedding a day later. I just had a couple questions, do they return our certified copy of the marriage certificate back to us? Just wondering if I need to order more copies. Also, I haven't received my I-693 back yet, had to send to Texas, after 4 doctors in Wisconsin would not do it without redoing the whole medical. Do you think its worth a try to send it without it, and just include a copy of my vacc. record from my medical at Medisys in Montreal? I know a couple people got approved without sending the I-693. Chance it..or wait it out till I get it? We just want to get my AP done so I can get to Canada to see my dad who's really not well. What do you guys think?

you should only need a copy of ur vaccinations, as they have the whole medical when u entered the USA, i didnt send anything in as everything was in the sealed envelope i handed over at POE. but then again i know how to attend an interview to get my greencard. i guess its up to you.

I sent a certified copy of our marriage license and I did get two copies at the town hall. I think you can just send in a photocopy of the certified license. I would wait for the I-693. They seem to be very inconsistent about what they require for the medical records. I would be safe rather than sorry. Our journey was very smooth and we included the I-693. We had the same problem with finding a doctor to work with us but finally scored a decent doctor. Good Luck. I hope you get transfered to Cali.

Winifredbee is right. A photocopy of the certified marriage certificate is what you need to send. With regards to vaccination, yes some people sent the vaccination result only and got approved but then again some people were asked for the I-693.

I can't believe these doctors! That is so annoying for you! Were they USCIS approved? When I went to the civil surgeon in Kansas, I had no problem at all. They new exactly what I needed as a K1 visa holder.

One thing you should note is that on the I-693 instructions it says the civil surgeon has to see you in person. This could be a problem seeing as you will have a civil surgeon in Texas fill it out. But hopefully USCIS won't notice this.

As for the marriage certificate, when we got back from our honeymoon, my husband went down to the Vital Records office and got a few certified copies ($12 for the first one and $6 for additional copies). We just sent a photocopy to USCIS.

Good luck!

If you have already sent the I-693 to Texas, why not wait a little bit more until you receive it back? I know some people just sent in their vaccination record from K-1 and still get their AOS approved but it is not a sure thing. My belief is always try to send everything they require and not to give them any reason to send me a RFE. A RFE can delay your application for 2 weeks minimum, you know, all those shipping and waiting for them resume the case etc etc......

Good luck and congrats on your wedding!

Cheers..

Thanks everyone. And yes, all the doctors I contacted in Wisconsin were on the list of designated cival surgeons and everyone of them said I had to have a complete medical. I kinda got in an arguement with one secretary who told me that the doctor would not commit an unlawful act by signing a I-693 without doing a complete medical! ARRGHH! Does it actually say anywhere that the doctor must see you in person? I don't remember reading that. Just that you need the vacc transcribed to the I-693. I guess we will wait for the I-693 to come in. I will have to call the doctors office tomorrow and see if they have at least received it. THANKS again for the responses.

I guess there has been a little controversy lately about Dr. Arnold. A couple interviewers at local USCIS offices have turned people away with the transcription from Dr. Arnold and told them they must see someone in state. But I understand your pain. I contacted 7 doctors here in Colorado and they all refused to transcribe the document without a new medical. A couple of them didn't even know what I was talking about. Where is USCIS getting these people? Obviously some of them are not properly trained regarding immigration medicals and procedures. I would wait Wis-can. I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting an RFE when sending the I-693 from Doctor Arnold with their petition, so it would lessen your chances that that would come up as an issue.

And we just send in a photocopy of our original marriage certificate and that was good enough. We brought a certified copy to the interview but the IO said he didn't need it and that the regular photocopy was sufficient.

THANKS Hugglebuggles. I am going to wait...patiently..LOL I told the secretary if she would just read the instructions for the I-693 she would see that K-1's do not require a full medical...it was useless. I don't understand people, I really don't. I have been reading a bit about Dr. Arnold and I am aware of the issues some people are having. There is another Dr. that I am going to call on Monday and see how I make out. I'll have to post on this thread and let you know how I make out. Thanks again.
